Thank Heavens January is over! Not only was the weather unusually cold and snowy here, but it seems like all of our usual snow bird buyers were snow bound in their houses up north, and not buying a house here in the top rated town of Cary, North Carolina. So what do the numbers say about last month? The total number of sales in Cary for detached homes last month was 86, compared to 112 in December and 116 in November.

Many potential buyers lately seem to be looking for a one story home in the Raleigh Cary Apex area of North Carolinaand are suprised at the lack of ranch homes, especially newer ranch homes. I explain to them that it's because of the extra expense a builder incurs in building a house with the extra roof line, extra plumbing, extra foundation, etc. Not to mention that a 1200 sf ranch home uses just as much land and a 2400 sf 2 story, which will bring the builder a lot more money. Summer vacation is almost over for the students on "traditional calendar year" here in the Raleigh Cary Apex area of North Carolina. As of Wednesday, August 25, the kiddies will be heading on back to their beloved school. (Can you hear the parents clapping already?) The Wake County School District has a wonderful website where you can find everything from the student assignment to the days off, to the school lunch menus! Many times while touring a potential seller's home I'll be asked by the seller about the hand painted mural on the wall or the old stained carpet. Or the kids rooms have been painted bright red, maybe the wallpaper is pealing in the bathroom. I know what they want me to say- "No, it's fine, leave it the way it is." The buyer's will love it! Unfortunately, that's not the answer I usually give them. My answer:
