homes: Wake County September Housing Market Report - 10/26/09 08:59 AM
It's the middle of October and here in the Triangle area of North Carolina we've had our first frost warning The leaves are starting to turn colors as the weather cools off from the heat of August. Autumn has always been my favorite season, and living in North Carolina is especially enjoyable. In the Real Estate market, the last 2 months have been extremely HOT with first time home buyers hurrying to meet that November 30 deadline to qualify for the $8000 tax credit. Because of this, homes priced in the lower price range, or under $200,000, were selling well. Looking at the chart below of residential sales for resale homes in Wake

homes: Cary NC July 2008 Housing Market report- Supply & Demand - 08/22/08 09:27 AM
Supply and Demand- Economics 101, still continues to hold true. The numbers for the housing market in Cary NC appear to be following the same trend as the rest of Wake county.... after a slight pickup in May & June, giving everyone a little hope for a rebound this summer, sales slumped again in July. There were 110 homes sold in Cary in July while there were 654 homes for sale. The numbers show that last year at this time there were only 375 homes on the market and 175 homes sold. Instead of homes being on

homes: Cars, Houses.... they're all the same types of client. - 08/14/08 12:54 PM
Well, it's finally happened. After 10 years and 200,000 miles, my husband decided he neeeded a new car. Not that he doesn't love his 1998 Honda Civic, it just came to a point as to whether to put some money into a new clutch, or buy a new car. Now, I've been married to Jeff for over 30 years, and I love him dearly, but making big decsions quckly is not his strong point. When he got the bad news about the work needed on his car last Friday, I knew how my weekend was going to be spent. First he had to

homes: North Carolina & Nationwide Appreciation, + find your area! - 08/11/08 12:45 PM
Wwe all know the 3 magic words in real estate are location location and location. Lately "all real estate is local" is the newest slogan. However, what affects the rest of the country and the world affects everyone eventually, even the local real estate market. While some parts of the country were expericiencing double digit appreciation, we in North Carolina benefited because of increased migration from those areas, and the people bringing their equity in their homes to buy here. We were a little slower to catch on to the "bubble bursting" effect of the last 2 years in homes depreciation, but now

With all the concern lately about the stability of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, I thought a little background information might be helpful: The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) was established as an independent entity within the Department of Housing and Urban Development by the Federal Housing Enterprises Financial Safety and Soundness Act of 1992 (12 U.S.C. 4501 et seq.). homes: Rent Vs Own ratio - One List Cary North Carolina isn't on! - 08/05/08 02:22 PM
In thier latest article titled America's Most Overpriced Zip Codes, Yahoo.com reported on Saturday that Forbes.com has come out with an interesting way to look at investing in real estate. In a report for Forbes.com, Hotpads.com produced a price-to-earnings spread for each ZIP code in the nation's 40 largest cities by comparing rental costs with buying costs for similar properties, based on number of bedrooms, location and price per square foot. Price-to-earnings, or P/E, expresses how much one has to pay for each dollar of return. A neighborhood with a high P/E is overvalued because a buyer is getting a low return based

homes: Former San Diegan missing the beach. - 07/11/08 11:21 AM
I'm becoming an Active Rain addict and recently found the AR groups for the San Diego area . As a former resident of 16 years in Lemon Grove, I'm missing the beach most of all this summer. The beaches here in North Carolina are nice, but there's not enough to do there. And it's a 2 hour drive just to get to Wilmington! As a Realtor in the Raleigh/ Cary North Carolina area, I'm meeting a great many newcomers from San Diego and California. In North Carolina we don't have license plates on the front of our cars, so people keep their plates

homes: Once a Buffalonian, always a Buffalonian? - 07/11/08 07:35 AM
I was born in Buffalo, grew up in the town of Eden, and lived in Hamburg for the first 5 years of my married life. Our family now lives in the Raleigh North Carolina area, having left Buffalo in 1985 for all the usual reasons--- taxes, job market, weather, etc. It's amazing how many people from Western NY I meet down here everyday. Even my hairdresser is from Buffalo! We go to Hurricanes games, where you don't need to inherit the ticket, but go up to the ticket window the day of the game and buy what you need, if the Hurricanes

homes: Never miss an opportunity to learn & network - 07/08/08 05:12 PM
Just came back from our summer vacation, this time to Northern California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. Even though we had lived in Southern California in San Diego for many years, raising children and working never gave us time to visit the northern part of the state. We were visiting at the time of the brush fires throughout the state, but the scenery at Yosemite was still magnificent. Luckily my friends and family are interested in real estate and houses as well as I am, because whereever we travel, I have to look at model homes, ads in the windows
