This is second in a series on what to do BEFORE, DURING and AFTER an earthquake. 
Stay as safe as possible during an earthquake. Be aware that some earthquakes are actually foreshocks and a larger earthquake might occur. Minimize your movements to a few steps to a nearby safe place and if you are indoors, stay there until the shaking has stopped and you are sure exiting is safe.

earthquake preparedness: Ring of Fire Earthquake Prediction & Preparedness - 03/21/11 12:28 PM
This past week a geologist, Jim Berkland, predicted on Fox News a "ring of fire" earthquake for the past weekend.  Allegedly he lost his job with USGS after successfully predicting the 1989 World Series earthquake.  He said his prediction stems from the lunar effects on the tides and observations of fish and mammals dying off (i.e. masses of dead fish off of Southern California coast)

earthquake preparedness: Earthquake Preparedness in San Diego - 07/09/10 12:37 PM
This morning's newscast highlighted the need for San Diegans to become more "earthquake prepared".  We have had homes in San Diego and in the Palm Springs area and were living in Palm Desert in 1992 when the Landers earthquake struck with a magnitude of 7.3.  While it was shaking we lost a foot of water out of our pool and my husband, children and I were sitting on our front lawn waiting for the tremor to stop and literally, experiencing motion sickness.  That being said, our home was a mile from the San Andreas fault.
