Where is the only public right of way Covered Bridge in Florida? Coral Springs of course... The Covered Bridge was the first permanent structure built within the City of Coral Ridge Properties,developer of Coral Springs, in 1984. It withstood the eye of Hurricane Cleo that passed over it in August 1964 without sustaining any damage. The 40 Foot bridge has a single steel span. It's roof is composed of 25 truss rafters, cross braces, and stringers and is covered in shingles. It is the only covered bridge in Florida in the public right of way. June 5,2010 Circle of Hope - The Circle of Hope, a local non-profit agency's Ride and Run Against Domestic Violence will be held at Sam Pitts Park in Clarkesville. There will be a one mile fun run and 5K road race for running aficionados, a 2-1/2 hour motorcycle ride has been added for biders. All three events will begin and end at Sam Pitts Park. Coral Springs, Florida is having a Shredathon Saturday June 5th during the hours of 9 AM and Noon in front of City Hall. This is an effort to help stop identity theft and it is free. You may bring up to five boxes or bags per person of personal paperwork that may include account numbers, PIN numbers and other personal information that could lead to identity theft. Don't become a victim. Stop by City Hall on Saturday and shred. Just for added incentive there will be giveaways for participating.
