Cary NC     Renovating the Staircase - Hardwood or Paint? Cary NC Renovating the Staircase - Hardwood or Paint?  That is the question my husband and I posed.   We bought a 20 year old home on the golf course with an amazing view.  The rest of the house definitely needed some updating.   We originally decided to retread the staircase with hardwoods and wrought iron railings.

Until we saw our neighbor's stairs. Paint?  We never considered it.
I ran home and ripped the carpet off the first stair and it was real wood, not sub flooring.   We were … (1 comments)

Cary NC Housing Trends and Stats DEC '09-DEC '10 - 01/14/11 06:00 PM
Cary NC Housing Trends and Stats DEC '09-DEC'10 Cary NC Housing Trends and Stats DEC '09 - DEC '10 at first glance looks a bit bleak, however let's not forget that in 2010 we had the Federal Tax Credit for motivation.  That tax credit motivated numerous first-time home buyers.  Homes in the $250,000 and below sold like snow shovels during the season's first snow.  (Couldn't help the Winter analogy, it's 28* and icy as I write this report.)

At a recent area Housing Trends seminars  The experts agreed that Cary NC market will continue to recover in 2011 even without a … (1 comments)

Cary NC The Greatest Qualities in Life, Patience and Wisdom - 01/11/11 11:41 AM
Cary NC the greatest qualities in life, patience ans wisdom.  The simple phrase says a mouthful.  It's the title of the picture shown. I saw this picture giggled, immediately sent it to my daughter who is a vet major at NCSU. It stuck with me and I took time to consider both in my own life while raising teenagers. Wisdom passed on to me from my Mother:
If the Good Lord didn't make then teenagers we wouldn't let them go! (or throw them out) That's why there is chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.  By the age 18 I've done all I can … (1 comments)

Cary NC Where'sMyCellPhone.com ? - 01/10/11 05:35 PM
Cary NC Where'sMyCellPhone.com is the most brilliant website I've seen in a long time!  A few years ago, as a family, we decided to cancel our land-line.   We all had cell phones and the only calls we received on the land-line were from Blockbuster telling us our DVD's were overdue.  It made sense and still does.I work from home in Cary NC. I'm often the only one home during the day.  While working I multi-task, throw in a load of laundry, defrost dinner, go for a second...third cup of coffee.  Of course I take my phone. Inevitably I set it … (0 comments)

Cary NC  Post Office Kiosks Now Located in Gas Stations
Cary NC Post Office Kiosks Now Located in Gas Stations.  Brilliant idea!  It started with the Dolphin Gas Station on the corner of NC 55 and Green Hope School Road.  The owner of the station lobbied the USP for a Post Office Kiosk in his station.  They agreed and convenience for all of us was born. Like most towns the  Cary NC has several Post Office locations.  The problem is most of them always have a line.  A visit to the Post Office is a chore, especially around the holidays.  You … (0 comments)

Cary NC The Buying Process - 01/04/11 05:41 PM

Cary NC     The Buying Process Step 1.
I often find myself telling clients that buying a home is a process that takes time. Step 1-Get prequalified: In today's market this is an essential first step.  When making first contact with a Real Estate Buyer's Agent the first question they ask you must be, "Have you been to a lender to get pre-qualified?"  That simple statement will be a signal that you are working with a true professional.
Senario:  You do the calculations and  think you can afford a home in the $200-250,00 range.  You start a search … (0 comments)
