Cary NC  Western Cary Farmer's Market at Carpenter Village Cary NC Western Cary Farmer's Market at Carpenter Village is a Saturday morning event.  Just after dawn the tents are up and the shoppers are ready for fresh fruit, vegetables, and seafood.
 I will tell you I was surprised to see the seafood, fresh shrimp and numerous varieties of fish.The vendors are family farmers from the Western Cary and the fruits and vegetables are very fresh.  I bought a container of huge peaches that were absolutely succulent.  The idea of a Farmer's Market really builds community.  You may pay a bit more however … (1 comments)

Cary NC Post Office Kiosks Now Located in Gas Stations.  Brilliant idea!  It started with the Dolphin Gas Station on the corner of NC 55 and Green Hope School Road.  The owner of the station lobbied the USP for a Post Office Kiosk in his station.  They agreed and convenience for all of us was born. Cary NC   First Night Raleigh 2011 begins Friday December 31st at 2:00 pm.  Every city has their own unique New Year's Celebration and Raleigh NC is no exception.   No "big apple" dropped here.  Raleigh proudly proclaims itself the City of Oaks because of the incredible number of 100 + year old Oak Trees.  To that end the City of Raleigh drops none other than an ACORN.   The celebration kicks off at 2:00pm and the first ACORN drop takes place at the family friendly time of 7:00 pm. Raleigh Christmas Arts and Craft Show Raleigh Christmas arts and Craft Show greeted Downtown Raleigh this weekend.  The Christmas Arts and Craft show is scheduled annually the first weekend in December.  The Raleigh Convention Center host this festive Holiday event.  

Artisans from all over the state show their wears.  The arts and crafts run the gambit from jams and jellies, jewelry to woodworking.  Musical entertainment adds to the festive atmosphere.  Saxophone Quartet playing Christmas Carols, area dance troops, and choirs really get everyone in the spirit.

Raleigh Winterfest Raleigh Winterfest kicks off in Downtown Raleigh December 4th @ 7:00pm.  Winterfest is Raleigh's answer to NYC's Rockefeller Center.  Packed full of activities and a state-of -the art skating rink.   Created to encourage family fun Downtown.  
 Weather can be unpredictable at best here in the South,  the ice rink can stay frozen even if temps rise into the70*'s.  The ice rink was such a hit last year that it was extended 500 sqft more.

Cary NC USS North Carolina is a destination for many visitors.  When in Cary many visitors make the trip to the coast to visit the historic USS North Carolina.  The USS North Carolina is a destroyer used in WWII and fought in the Pacific.  Today it's a museum.  Visitors can take a trip back in time and tour this historic ship.  

It takes a few hours to meander the narrow halls and rooms of this enormous ship.  My advice would be to visit in the cooler months.

Cary NC's Prestonwood hosts PGA Champions Tour - SAS Golf Tournament Cary NC's Prestonwood hosts PGA Champions Tour - SAS Golf Tournament for the 10th year this past weekend September 24-26.  The professional senior golfers from all over the country descended on Prestonwood Country Club to compete for the 2.5 million in prize money and points for the Charles Schwab Cup.

Cary Lazy Daze Cary Lazy Daze is an annual family event enjoyed by all ages.  The last Saturday of August artists from near and far decend on Cary NC to sell thier wares.
Lazy Daze is also a time for local bands and dance troops to entertain on one of three stages.  Cary area churches, schools, and charities also use this event to host fundraisers.  

St. Michael's Church raffles off a quilt made by thier "Quilters Club".  Cary High School cools the crowd with $1.00 bottles of cold water.  NC State offers face painting to support band events.

Goodberry's Every town is know for its local favorites and Cary NC is not exception with Goodberry's.  No need to say anything more than Goodberry's to elicit a positive yummy response from residents of Cary.

Raleigh Christmas Show at the Raleigh Convention Center I know the season is near when I receive my annual invitation to the Raleigh Christmas Show at the Raleigh Convention Center.   This year I was a bit saddened, because my daughter is my usual companion, and this year is away at college.  Away at college is a relative statement, she attends NCSU, only 30 minutes away.  Should I give her a call?  Absolutely, tradition is tradition!

Cary Christmas Parade  Cary Christmas Parade brings back fond family memories.  When my daughter's were at Davis Drive Elementary School they participated on the "Jump Rope Team".  They practiced routines in the school parking lot, with parent volunteers, for weeks preparing for the Cary Christmas Parade.  Notice the coordinating sweatshirts in the picture, yes, I was one of those parent volunteers.  It was a time in my life I throughly enjoyed.  About 50 kids were a part of the team, both boys and girl from grades 3-5.  It was a honor to be selected after a round of try-outs.  The kids … (0 comments)

Halfway down High House Rd in the Hybrid while touring Cary NC I remembered a quite unusual park, perfect for a visit, Cary Dog Park. So I made on turn on Maynard Rd and just before Harrison Ave. near Golbold Park is the Cary Dog Park.
