Let's Get Serious New Mexico...a view from the man in the street
The arrest of UNM Political Science Professor Chris Garcia came as a shock to many people in New Mexico...or did it? People say things publicly, but privately they do the opposite. Some seem to think that his decades of contribution to the New mexico should end this way.   How do you really feel about Chris Garcia?  It raises more questions:
As it was reported in the news, there is a list of clientele...Who are they?
Will it include people in "High Places?"

Should New Mexico Ban Fireworks for the upcoming July 4th Holiday? - 06/24/11 02:31 AM

Should New Mexico Ban Fireworks for the upcoming July 4th Holiday?
New Mexico have had its share of wildfires for this season.
With the blistering temperatures across the state...I think now is the time to put a statewide ban on all fireworks. It is a very tough call for our decision-makers, but a prudent one.
This is not intended to dampen the holiday spirits, but let's take a closer look:
Triple-digits temperature across the state
Low Humidity
No Sign of rain anywhere
Vegetation all across the state is quite plentiful to start a fire
Public Safety should be Priority One

"Lloyd, I have been telling myself that I need to write more posts... and more hyper-local posts... for months.  The hard part is actually DOING it.  It's hard sometimes to get off dead-center."
Since, I've been down that road before, I felt it would be a good gesture to share some of what works for me.  This may not work for you, and if it doesn't, that's okay.

Albuquerque under Smoke - 06/12/11 09:39 PM

Albuquerque under Smoke
What started off as an Arizona problem, "the Wallow Fire," has now burned over 400,000 acres with only 5% contained, and has now breached the New Mexico border.  At a distance of 200 miles away, Albuquerque is experiencing its effect, especially at nights when the smoke descends on the city; there is an intriguing red haze and ash falling to the ground.  None of this is good for us especially children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues.  Despite the valiant efforts of Hot Shot Crews, this fire is seemingly out of control.  We are at the … (6 comments)

Why Should School Districts across the nation be forced to raise the cost of Meals for our Children? - 06/12/11 08:40 PM

Why Should School Districts across the nation be forced to raise the cost of Meals for our Children?
Albuquerque Journal reported that  the "Rio Rancho School Meal Cost May Rise 15 Cents"
According to the Journal," U.S. Department of Agriculture sent a memo to school districts nationwide last month saying districts were relying too heavily on federal subsidies to cover the cost of each meal, and directed the districts to either raise lunch prices or put up local funds to make up the difference. "
The Rio Rancho School Board, taking steps to address this issue will convene on Monday at 5:30pm at … (4 comments)

AT&T acquisition of T-Mobile is still a bad idea - 06/12/11 03:12 AM

AT&T acquisition of T-Mobile is still a bad idea
Recently the AT&T/T-Mobile deal came under careful scrutiny.  The House Judiciary Committee held hearings about the  AT&T acquisition of T-Mobile.
According to Tech World Article "Lawmakers question AT&T acquisition of T-Mobile," "The $39 billion deal could give customers fewer choices and drive up prices."  Rep John Conyers, D-Michigan put it succinctly, "I see absolutely no redeeming reason for this merger to go through,"
"The merger could cost many jobs at the two companies and could lead to higher prices for mobile plans, Conyers said. "Normally, at antitrust hearings, we get … (4 comments)

How to Rent Your Current Home and Buy a Bigger Home - 06/11/11 05:35 PM

This is a very creative way for homeowners to take advantage of the current housing crisis.  As the number of Foreclosures hit the market, the value of properties continue to drop, at the same time the demand for rental properties continue to rise, so market rent increase.  There is a certain percentageof renters who are willing to pay extra to live in Single Family Dwellings instead of Apartments, therefore the number of days on the market is very low.  The homeowner can at this stage purchase a bigger house at a discount.  Please stop by Markita's post andleave a comment.

Before you consider having your roof replaced, consider doing a "vent" survey to make sure that all vent pipes that protrude through your roof are still in use.
Many older homes in this area have 'abandoned' vents that are no longer required.  Ask any roofing contractor and they will tell you the biggest source of roof leaks are … (3 comments)

US Government Called out Banks - 06/10/11 02:18 AM

US Government Called Out Banks
In an article title "Government faults 3 lenders over mortgage-aid effort," Derek Kravitz of the Associated Press pointed out how the government has essentially called out banks that have essentilly broken their agreement.

He writes,  "WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is blaming the three largest U.S. mortgage lenders for the failures of its foreclosure-prevention program. It says they’ve done little to help people at risk of losing their homes."
"Wells Fargo, Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase & Co. have failed to help enough people permanently lower their mortgage payments so they can stay … (9 comments)

What has changed about Active Rain? - 06/08/11 09:57 PM
What has change about Active Rain?

On January 22, 2011 I was prompted to write a post "What has changed about Active Rain?"  I did not publish it, because I wasn't sure if my timing was right.  Here I am approximately 6 months later and I will complete this blog.  I was fresh off the RAINCAMP HOUSTON, I was listening to Ben Kinney and Chad on a daily basis; So I was really taking a critical look at Active Rain.  That's just my way of life.
Anyway, I found that Active Rain still had issues.  I wanted to know … (7 comments)

To Heck With Featured Post...Give me some Google Juice!
Last week I read a post where an individual was inquiring about how to get featured...I have thought it over and here is what I came up with, " To heck with Featured posts...Give me some Google Juice.
Most people would probably disagree with me here, but as I see it, it's a numbers game.  What do you get for a featured post?  Extra points...that's it.  I do not want to put any extra pressure on myself, trying to get featured! To be honest, most people don't even know the criteria they … (48 comments)

The Question is; "Why is the price so HIGH"? - 06/05/11 08:20 PM

So you are planning to list a home.  The seller is set on what they would like for the property...it is off base...Do you take the listing and list it at the Sellers' price.  In the post below the scenario is staged. If Disaster Strikes, Do You Know What Your Insurance Covers? - 06/05/11 12:24 PM

Having Insurance to cover losses or damages is an integral part of our business.  Over the life of a piece property you pay insurance premium religiously.  Make a claim, then the true color of the indurance company comes out.  This blog captures the reality of what goes on in the insurance industry. Personally, I pay an attorney to read through all contracts that I have to sign.  Probably the most important part of the contract is in its fine print.

Buying a new home is a journey and no two paths are the same.
