Thanking The Turkey - 11/25/06 10:49 AM
My wife says that men are lucky, that when the turkey is ready, they are called in to do the honors of cutting it up and are then treated to a sumptuous dinner that magically appears.  But, I'm extremely thankful for the dinner and all of the efforts that go into Thanksgiving.  So, not only do I thank my wife, for her love, beauty and culinary abilities, but I also thank the turkey.
We are thankful also to reside in this tropical paradise commonly known as Estero Island or Fort Myers Beach, Florida.  We've resided here since 1999, and despite rumors to the contrary, our house … (3 comments)

Old dog can learn new tricks - 11/23/06 08:31 PM
These days Realtors/Brokers are being pressured by the media, the NAR,and the fact that buyers and sellers have access to all sorts of information through the web and are often very shrewd and experienced in real estate..and of course by the zillions new high tech products that are flooding the market.
Contrary to the old belief that old dogs cannot learn new tricks , Realtors can if they choose to.
In dog years I am about 7 years old. What is there out there that I must must have or that I should have or that Iwant to spend the money on? I have different philosophy about all this high … (3 comments)

Selling now in FL? - 11/21/06 03:02 PM
Many of us do know that having "good"listings, that are are properly priced, is the back bone of a long real estate career. In South Fl and here in Ft Myers tons of listings are coming in the MLS every week, but surprise, they are not selling. There is to much inventory of course and then some people think that we are still in 2005.They are in denial. If they are selling with buying another home in mind, its clear what they have to do: lower their price so its competitive because after all you will buy more home on the other end....so its not … (0 comments)

Home Sellers: The Importance of Landscaping in Florida - 11/17/06 02:39 PM
When a buyer makes up his or her mind to purchase a single family in Florida, they already have an idea of the type of lanscaping they are looking for to make their home special. These days with an inventory larger than privious years, focusing on making that right first impression is crucial to selling. Some owners just possess that special knack of transforming a bland yard into an exciting retreat. Due to the extreme heat in the summer months, it is recommended to have a few palm trees that provide some shade and depending on the size and condition of your lawn, it is a plus if the … (2 comments)

NAR "It's a Great Time to Buy" campaign - 11/14/06 07:03 PM
Less then 2 weeks ago the NAR started a campaing with ads in major Newspapers in the country and I thought: This is what a lot of us realtors have been saying! It is the "Buy Now"campaign.
It is a buyer's market:* we can negotiate more. The interest rates are still low.The prices are starting to stabilize. The choices of properties is larger hence your buyers have more chances to find their dream property. We do know that  a Housing investment is a great investment with the right Realtor. The vice chairman of the Federal reserve himself is saying that there are signs that the market is … (2 comments)

Using an older car to show properties - 11/13/06 08:49 PM
If you look the part many will think you are very very successful. Of course its important to have a car that is confortable but does it matter if you are driving a Mercedes or a regular Toyota? Will it be more fun for a potential buyer to be in a top of the line SUV? I suppose so but after all they are not buying your car, they are using your expertise and you are offering a service. As long as they are not cramped, the car smells good and is clean then it does not matter that much. The most … (6 comments)

TV Adds, are they worth it? - 11/13/06 07:54 PM
I heard that TV adds are much more affordable then most Realtors think and are quite efficient? I also heard some spend about $500-$1500 a month on them, which does not sound to bad if it works. … (0 comments)

What is a good residential building lot? - 11/12/06 03:59 PM
A top notch building lot is located in a residential street which is paved and has street lights. The spot where the house is going to be build should be elevated. The other homes around should be clean and owners proud of their properties. How close to schools, stores, markets, hospitals, fire station, police station and your job, unless you work from home? How is the traffic there and how long does it take to get to downtown, the beaches, the restaurants?
A corner lot may be more interesting, the size is at least as much as the average on the street . For a waterfront lot … (4 comments)

Home Inspection and Mold, what works? - 11/12/06 01:19 PM
No matter the age of the property you are purchasing you are better off getting  a mold inspection  added to the general inspection. It should be written in black and white within the Contract or as an Addendum. Some sellers think that bleaching walls and baseboards will get rid of mold. If its light mold yes but you may need more treatment like the following:Professional Mold Remediation and Fogging Products or you may want to use a High Ozone Shock Treatments - Air-Zone Ozone Generators. Of course
you are always better off using aprofessional but please get 3 estimations as it is very easy to run … (0 comments)

Is the Bubble Bursting in SW FL Fort Myers? - 11/11/06 11:06 AM
Certainly there is a certain form of drastic drop in sales in the major cities in the USA. Boston, Las Vegas, Miami and many others were hit hard and here in Fort Myers we have seen average prices of single homes going from close to $300K to the mid $200's. The good news? interest rates seems to hold as of nov 2006 in the lower 6% and its a great time to buy because as we all know it will go back up. Some project that it will take 12 months, others say it will take over a year a half … (0 comments)
