fort myers beach homes: Taking a time out - 04/20/10 07:07 PM
It rained on and off on Estero Island the last couple of days and it rained on my desk continually. We needed the rain anyway and now the grass is growing faster and the island is back to its normal state. Its warm during the day and in the low 70’s at night. As for my desk, it looks like an organized mess. I did try to log in most of my data online or on a exterior drive. We all try to be greener and waste less paper but the reports and other flyers still build up colored piles.I

fort myers beach homes: Mortgage Interest rates fall mid April 2010 - 04/19/10 11:38 PM
The last couple of weeks we have seen interest rates for long term loans or 30 year mortgages rising slightly to an average of 5.21%, which was the highest since mid-august. As of this week it went back to 5.07%, a very desirable rate which will of course help buyers. This is according to Freddie Mac. This makes it even more appealing for buyers in Southwest Florida. The lowest was in December 2009 when we saw rates of 4.87% which was just unthinkable a few months before. rates for a 15 year fix is as of this week at 4.40%,

fort myers beach homes: To tiki or to chickee that is the question: short history of the SW FL tiki hut - 11/10/09 08:29 AM
The orginal tiki huts started some 1450 BC with the Calusa Indians who at the time controlled most of south west Florida. Their influence in tiki building was brought to our Seminole Indians or “run-away-Indians” who transformed the tiki hut. They name this shelter “chickee” which means home in Seminole. Westernized tiki in Fort Myers Beach Though these island tikis are highly influenced by the Seminole Indians technique, there are some major differences to the fastening of the timber together to the palms. More modern tikis use different forms of nails and treated

fort myers beach homes: Fort Myers Beach investments and vacational rentals - 10/14/09 09:50 PM
This home located in Fort Myers Beach used to have river rocks or crushed stones for its driveway. I think that one of the reason it sold this year is because the previous owner changed the driveway to cobble stones. The attractive type with rounded edges. From the street the home has now more elegance. I am not saying that it was the only reason it sold but it attracted the new owner to take a closer look. It is now a rental property. A very good one. fort myers beach homes: A room with a view: Sky Bridge Fort Myers Beach - 10/02/09 11:31 PM
As one drives from Fort Myers on San Carlos Boulevard you will be offered a treat. Little by little, as your car climbs Sky Bridge, you will be able to get a full view of Fort Myers Beach. Yesterday, I decided to take a few shots from the very top of the bridge. This time I walked. One can take their time and enjoy a panoramic view of Fort Myers Beach and its canals fingering the island with salt water all the way towards Estero Boulevard, which runs parallel to the Gulf and, beyond, the Gulf Of Mexico. fort myers beach homes: Driven Island family raises home from the dead - 06/22/09 10:16 PM
Sometimes I take a look at some of the homes I have sold in Fort Myers Beach. There is a such home on Delmar which has been transformed throughout the last couple of years. Yes, it was close to being an eye sore.Lets say it had an overall island charm buts its days were numbered. The owners have a bit of an edge as the husband is the President of "Flowers Construction Services" and his wife is not afraid to give a hand whenever possible. That is when they are not taking care of their young three children, running the business

fort myers beach homes: A Labor of Love in Fort Myers Beach - 12/14/08 02:12 PM
Sometimes your are surprised. This unusual home is located near the mid island of Fort Myers Beach on 178 Jefferson St.When you drive by you notice immediately the chimney, the gable roof lines, the large rounded windows and the mature landscaping. Much of the garden is hidden behind a peek a boo white fence. It reminded me of some homes in Old Town and the Bahama Village of Key West which were completely renovated in the 1990's to this day.It is offered for $399,000. I was very curious to pre-view it for potential clients who want a structurally Old

fort myers beach homes: Fort Myers Beach summer sunset - 08/31/08 10:11 PM
Fort Myers Beach is a barrier island located in Southwest Florida along the Gulf Of Mexico. It has been our home for about nine years. It is located some 26 miles North of Naples and it has city limits with Both Fort Myers and Bonita Springs. It boast some 7 mile beach which is also the length of the island. It is well know for its shrimp fishing, numerous canals with access to the Gulf Of Mexico, and its lay back life style and friendly though at times eccentric residents. It is part of Lee County but is separate from Fort Myers
