The continuing saga about the sub prime lending debacle seems unwilling to let go of our national psyche. Yes, some lenders went out of business and others, like Countrywide (suprise surprise) are taking their lumps and hunkering down. What does this bode for our future? If the Ethical Lending class I took today is any indication, we have a choice: either self regulate and tighten up our own practices or let the Feds step in and legislate it for us. For most of us, our homes are our innermost sanctums and must reflect who we are both inwardly and outwardly. I'd like to think all banks and lenders have your best interests at heart, but I've heard it said far too many times that a fool is soon parted with their money! I propose to First Time Homebuyers to first of all--get informed! Invest some time up front before you start looking at houses.
