logan utah: Do unemployment rates and home prices have a link? - 02/25/09 04:50 PM
Do unemployment rates and home prices have a link? A few weeks ago I wrote a blog about the low unemployment rate in Logan, Utah. Logan has the second lowest unemployment rate in the nation at 2.8%. Today I read that a report by the Federal Housing Finance Agency said while home prices in Utah have dropped over 6%, home prices in Logan increased 1.9 percent last year. That ranks Logan 32nd in the country among metropolitan areas. So my question is, do these two stories have something in common or is this just a coincidence? Johnnie Rosser RE/MAX

logan utah: Logan, Utah has the second-lowest unemployment rate in the nation. - 02/05/09 10:51 AM
I opened up my Deseret News paper this morning and the front page article was Logan boasts nation's second-lowest unemployment rate. In Logan, Utah the unemployment rate for December was 2.8%. Only Morgantown, WV had lower unemployment. They were 2.7%. The jobless rate did increase from December '07 to December '08, but only by .9%. In comparison the national unemployment average is 7.2%, with El Centro, CA being the highest with 22.6% unemployment. Logan doesn't follow the same up and down trends that other parts of the country do. Home prices, wages, personal debt didn't get as high here as they did in other

logan utah: I love Helping Families of Children with Down Syndrome - 01/05/09 03:21 PM
I was nominated for the Good Neighbor Award in the Cach-Rich Association of Realtors®. The person that nominated me asked if I would write a letter explaining how I got involved with the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation and what I do. This is the letter I wrote. I thought some of you might like to see it. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ When my son, Bennett, was born in 2003 with Down Syndrome we found that there was no support system from other families with Down Syndrome children in Logan. Through the Up 2-3 (the early intervention program at Utah State University) we

logan utah: My Snow Dog - 12/22/08 09:26 PM
What beautiful weather we are have in Logan, Utah today. I've shoveled my driveway twice already. The first time it was about 5 inches then I just finished and it had snowed about 3 more and it is still coming down. My dog, pyper, loved it. I make snowballs and throw them then she takes off to go find them. Every now and then she will find one, but most of the time they just disappear and she searches everywhere for them and can't figure out where the went. It was good fun. I'm sure we'll be out there again in a

logan utah: Misrepresentation of a Listed Home for Sale in Logan, Utah - 12/22/08 09:12 PM
I saw this "new" home for sale in Logan, Utah couple of days ago. It looked like a house that I had showed a few months ago. When I click on the Tax ID to get the history it shows it is a new listing that has never been on the MLS before. When I look into it a bit more I found out that it is the same house I had show, and it has been on the market for over a year. It looks like the listing agent changed the Tax ID so that you can't see how

logan utah: Why is today the best day to buy a home? - 12/18/08 10:16 AM
This morning my favorite lender gave me a call and told me that 30 year conventional fixed rates just dropped to 4.625 % (rates have bounced up a little, they are 4.75% as I type). I picked up the phone and started calling and texting everyone in my database to let them know this great news. One client that I have been looking at homes with for about 4 months asked why I was so excited about the rates. This article is what I explained to her, and I thought you might like to know what I told her.
