real estate: Rantings and Ravings of a Blogger in Need of Sleep - Do We Really Care? - 08/03/07 05:03 AM
August 1, 2007.   News Flash!  "The Getty museum has agreed to return a prized statue, dubbed "The Aphrodite," to Italy following an acrimonious dispute over allegedly looted antiquities"... There are museums all over the United States and all over the world watching this news with anticipation and concern.  A art history afficionado will tell you that artwork such as this have been stolen and resold dozens of times.  Hitler stole massive quantities of artwork from the countries he conquered.  Some of the pieces he stole have never been found.  Others have resurfaced and have been found in the most unlikely … (8 comments)

real estate: Leaving a Legacy - 08/03/07 04:21 AM
There is much history in my family.  My grandparents from both sides experienced Spanish colonialism.  My parents experienced overwhelming fear at a young age fron the atrocities committed around them during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.
As young adults, they dreamt of studying in San Francisco.  They endured seemingly insurmountable hardships to accomplish this dreams.  Now, it is up to me to continue the story of our heroic family - a legacy that will handed down from generation to generation.
And so, I begin.  With my stories, my examples, my accomplishment and my experiences - good or bad- I share it all with my … (9 comments)

real estate: NAPLES, CA: One Man's Dream of A Taste of Italy in the West Coast - 07/26/07 02:39 PM
Naples, California is a peninsula on the southern most tip of Long Beach.   It was the dream of A.M. Parsons and his son to bring a taste of Italy into southern California. Along with financier Henry Huntngton,A.M. Parsons formed the Naples Company with the hope of developing canals and a grand canal.  This dream started taking shape in 1907.
Today, the canals run for about a mile, comprised of a semicircular canal (Rivo Alto Canal) and a shorter straight canal (Naples Canal).  The streets are named in Italian, further giving it that Italian flavor.
Once inside the canals, you will see beautiful homes and yachts in a … (3 comments)

real estate: LONG BEACH REAL ESTATE Presents the Tony Robbins Challenge - 07/20/07 04:22 PM
Making an impression in the Long Beach Real Estate market (as with other Real Estate markets) takes team work.  It takes a vision, a mission and a plan.
What if you only had 20 minutes to interact with someone and bring out that person's true potential, how would you do it?  What if you were passionate about this and it was imperative that you take the point across all the potential objections?
When we work with a team and we are the team's leader or guiding force, we are constantly faced with this task.  More than likely, we already know that person's potential.  … (9 comments)

real estate: LONG BEACH REAL ESTATE presents AN EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED 11 YEAR OLD - 07/20/07 05:36 AM
At the ripe old age of 11, violinist Sirena Huang performed at TED in August 2006.  Although still a child, her performance shows that she has a musician's soul that transcends her years. What's most striking in her performance style is the way she combines technical ability with emotional force and nuance.  (This is something we should strive for in our business.)
In a charming interlude, Sirena praises the timeless design of her instrument, explaining how sound waves, amplification and frequency all play a part in her instrument. She also cleverly reminds the audience that today's audio systems are based on the same principles … (3 comments)

real estate: LONG BEACH REAL ESTATE presents: Your Video Screen on Steroids - 07/20/07 05:00 AM
With the advent of high definition and t.v. displays, techies will tell you that the video screen has no more room for improvement. They are so wrong !! This video will change the way you think about computers. After years of research, Jeff Han has created a simple, multi-touch, multi-user screen interface that just might herald the end of the point-and-click era. At TED 2006, the audience whistled, clapped and gasped audibly as Han demoed (for the first time publicly) his prototype drafting table-cum-touch display, developed at NYU's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences.
This demo has been has been watched more than 600,000 … (2 comments)

real estate: LONG BEACH REAL ESTATE PRESENTS The Debunking of Third World Myths - 07/20/07 04:00 AM
Once a year, 1000 people congregate in Monterrey to share ideas.  These people are movers and shakers in their separate fields.  They are philosophers, scientists, and creative thinkers.  Many of the ideas shared are ahead of its time.  Each expert is only given 15-20 minutes to share their ideas.  Hans Rosling, a Swiss doctor and researcher is one of the regular speakers.  In March 2007, Google purchased the Trendanalyzer software developed by Hans Rosling's nonprofit foundation.
What do you know about the health and the economy of the world?  Of developed countries compared to Third World countries?  This man has an astounding … (12 comments)

real estate: Heartwell Park - Long Beach, CA FIELD OF DREAMS: Future Golf Pros - 06/29/07 08:02 PM
Almost every day this summer, these two boys can be found walking to the nearby neighborhood driving range.   Their inspiration?  Tiger Woods. Golfers that hang out here say that Tiger used to practice here as a child.        Welcome to Heartwell Park Golf Course and to Long BeachJunior Golf Academy!
This IS where Tiger used to practice.  In this article Robert Duran talks about his job as Tiger's first swing coach.
Heartwell Golf Course is still an 18 hole 3 par course.  The clubhouse, the fairway and the greens have been going through constant improvement the last few years.  (The clubhouse serves great fries!)
