With all the whining from the media about the declining real estate market and the tons of inventory, it's a wonder that some homeowners simply haven't gotten the message yet. When you sit at way too high listing price, all you're doing is hoping for a miracle and the market is just going to pass you by. It's not magic or rocket science. There are two places to be when prices are coming down...at or below recent sales. This way you will be able to generate interest and hopefully sell in a timely fashion... otherwise you will be trying to play catch-up.

Investor confidence and credit markets show further signs of improvement today following Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's call for another stimulus package and after the Korean and Dutch governments announced that they would shore up their capital market's by making billions available. Largely as a result of the global effort to restore confidence to the markets, conventional and government mortgage interest rates showed some improvement for the second day in a row.

Smithtown is a town in Suffolk County, New York on the North Shore of Long Island.
HISTORY: The town was first settled around 1665. Local legend has it that Native Americans told Richard Smith that he would be granted title to all the land he could ride across in one day on a bull. The land he acquired in this way is said to approximate the current town's location.
