live your san francisco dream: Thankful Thursday-another lovely San Francisco house - 07/11/15 12:05 PM
Last week I posted a picture of a modest home that caught my fancy as I walked through a San Francisco neighborhood. This week one house that I especially enjoyed walking past was grander than last week's.
Prominently located at a 5-way intersection a short block from wild and beautiful Buena Vista Park, it was the focus of more than one photographer who happened by.
Beautiful proportions, unique architectural style, and lovely gardens with red, white and blue annuals makes this home a definite favorite. Here's a look at both the front, and the side entrance:

live your san francisco dream: Yoga at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco - 03/05/14 01:34 AM
Last night I attended Yoga at Grace Cathedral for the first time. What an experience, totally different from the small classes I like so much and attend several times a week at Bird Music on Polk Street.
The Tuesday evening donation-based yoga at Grace Cathedral begins at 6:15 PM. When I arrived almost 15 minutes early, the majority of the huge church was filled with people of all sizes, shapes, colors, ages, genders, ready to join together for an hour of healthy movement, mental calmness, and spiritual awareness. Live musicians played softly.
The class was timed beautifully; we were at … (15 comments)

live your san francisco dream: Christmastime at the Fairmont Hotel, Nob Hill, San Francisco - 11/30/13 10:31 AM
Perched high atop Nob Hill in San Francisco,
The Fairmont Hotel is a favorite of many.

For years, people have come to partake of their holiday tea service, and for Saturday's community event -- a visit from Santa, the opening of the 23-foot tall Gingerbread house, free cookies, cider, champagne, cocoa and music provided by several community groups.

The San Francisco City Chorus, led by their director, Larry Marrieta, opened this morning's festivities with their beautiful renditions of traditional Christmas carols. The crowd was appreciative, and the children enthralled. Only when Santa Claus made his entrance were the … (11 comments)

This is the opening week of the long-awaited San Francisco Jazz Center. Situated at the corner of Franklin and Fell Streets in the Hayes Valley neighborhood, ribbon cutting ceremony and tours of the building began today. All tours were sold out in advance, which bodes well for the SF Jazz Center - we're excited to have it here in our midst.
Opening night concert, Wednesday January 23, is also sold out, but can be enjoyed by the rest of us on NPR Radio. The Schedule of Artists coming between now and June is posted, so you have plenty of time to … (5 comments)

live your san francisco dream: Last Chance to Enjoy SF Fleet Week 2012 - 10/07/12 04:14 AM
Fleet Week in San Francisco is always a lot of fun and a huge event, bringing in thousands of visitors. This year, in addition to the air shows and parade of ships, we have the added attraction of watching America's Cup yacht racing.Yesterday's performances, both in the air and on the sea, were stunning--the day was crystal clear, with warm sunshine and gentle breezes. (I might have a different assessment about the breezes if I were taking part in the Amerca's Cup races - one of the Team Oracle boats capsized in the first regattas, but was back in it minutes … (10 comments)

In addition to the air show on both Saturday and Sunday, 12:30-4:00, the Parade of Navy Ships takes place Saturday at 11:00. An added attraction this year is another leg of the America's cup race, on Sunday 1:50 … (12 comments)

live your san francisco dream: Condo Life in San Francisco-embracing billboards - 07/28/12 06:21 AM
Living in the heart of a city like San Francisco brings all sorts of new experiences. One for me is learning to embrace billboards. Yes, billboards. Now, if I had my druthers, I'd have the billboard taken down from the building next door, but since I don't I decided to enjoy it. The message changes every month or two; some appeal to me more than others; none take away my enjoyment of the view beyond. It's fascinating watching a new sign go up, wondering what will appear. Long gone are the days when strips of a message would go up wallpaper … (10 comments)
