The purpose of business
Most people will say that the purpose of business is profit.  
I would say that profit is essential part of a successful business but not the number one purpose. A business that is focused solely on profit can very well miss what makes a business profitable.  
A business can't successfully sustain themselves without a continued flow of customers.
