Oh yes, they are at it again. We've had several calls this week (already) due to scams on Craigslist. If they say they are from Africa and need you to watch over their place...think twice before you Western Union them cash! Tenants and agents need to be aware of what's going on and be cautious!

"The Cinderella Project" in Baton Rouge: 2011 Dress Giveaway!! - 03/27/11 03:33 PM
It seems like only yesterday I was on my knees begging my parents for a later curfew. Prom night was a big deal and only the cool kids got to stay out past 11:30. I can hear the parents now, “Anything past midnight is trouble”. I never could understand what was so wrong with a good, healthy dose of trouble? I was under the impression that trouble could push me into situations that would allow me to make good choices, right? How am I supposed to learn if I can’t get into trouble? Hey, that was my 16-year-old mentality. Yes, I … (2 comments)

It’s Daylight Savings Time, which means the clocks must go forward and there’s no turning back! I can feel it already, spring is just around the corner and you know what that means…CRAWFISH!
Crawfish lovers around the Baton Rouge area are getting their taste buds ready to suck the head and eat the tail! Did you know that Louisiana has over thirty different species of crawfish? Oh yes, but only two species are commercially imported to the industry; these are the redfish crawfish and the white river crawfish. Louisiana’s obviously leads the nation in regards to crawfish and the economy … (3 comments)

Vehicle Registration in Baton Rouge, Louisiana: Honk Honk - 03/08/11 04:44 PM
Oh come on, its fun…I couldn’t think of any other thing I’d rather be doing than registering my vehicle. Okay, maybe not…but it’s one of those things you just got to do. When you are relocate to the fabulous Baton Rouge, within the first 30 days you will need to register your vehicle…or it will turn into a pumpkin. In addition to registering, you will need to purchase a Louisiana license plate. They are about $20 unless you get a personalized one. I’ve always wanted a tag that said “Too Legit” but after a looking into it, I found out it … (0 comments)

What Does It Take To Be A Louisiana Resident? Becoming A Louisiana Resident! - 03/08/11 04:34 PM
In the 80′s, my family picked up and moved from Natchitoches, Louisiana (where I was born) to Mississippi. Growing up in Mississippi, I always felt as if something were missing….and that something was Louisiana. Eventually, it was time for me to go to college so I packed my things, headed toward Baton Rouge and never looked back…I’ve been here ever since. When I relocated to Baton Rouge, my primary concern was how to go about being a resident of Louisiana. I assumed it would be a long, dreadful process but then I learned that if you are in Louisiana and you … (0 comments)

Taking Art Classes in Baton Rouge, Louisiana! Baton Rouge Art Classes - 03/08/11 12:45 AM
Growing up with a crayon in my hand, I’ve always had a thing for art. I’m not saying that I knew what I was doing but hey, art is art…right? I’ve seen artist make one blob on a canvas, while ranting and raving how phenomenal it is and hey, it doesn’t matter if you’re painting the Mona Lisa or a stick man…it’s about imagination, inspiration and for some, errr…hallucinations. You do not have to be Mr. Monet to be considered an artist, you just need to have passion and a paint brush. Most of us are artistically challenged and while we … (4 comments)

Top Daycares in Baton Rouge: How To Find The Best Baton Rouge Daycare For Your Child - 03/08/11 12:36 AM
If you are expecting or relocating to Baton Rouge, you are going to want to find the best, suitable Baton Rouge daycare facility for your child. I relocated to Baton Rouge shortly after I found out I was pregnant with my son. I went into panic mode while trying to find a Baton Rouge Daycare. I was pretty new to the area and to the Internet, so I was a little overwhelmed by all of the daycare facilities in Baton Rouge. :system overload: After waddling around town, asking and searching, I finally decided to go with a Baton Rouge Daycare that … (0 comments)

Relocating to Baton Rouge Area: Looking For A School in the Baton Rouge Area - 03/07/11 11:40 PM
When someone is interested in leasing a home, a majority of prospective tenants want to know about the school districts. I’ve learned that the biggest concerns when leasing a home usually have to do with the area, the school district, the price, and the commute. Many of our prospective tenants are relocating from out-of-state and are not familiar with the different areas or schools. Most inquire, not only about the quality of the school, but which school their child would be attending in regards to bus routes and zones. If you are relocating, it can be overwhelming as to which area … (0 comments)

Turning on Utilities in Zachary, Louisiana - 03/07/11 11:30 PM
We have several properties in Zachary, Louisiana. One of the popular questions I get when a tenant gets approved for a property is “How do I get the utilities turned on in Zachary?”.  The process of turning on utilities is different from throughout all surrounding areas of Baton Rouge. While some are a piece of pie, some areas can be downright confusing and somewhat of a pain. Luckily, Zachary is more like a walk in the park than some of the other areas that require the first born, tap dancing and a valid passport. Okay, not really.
When turning on … (0 comments)

Fear The Beard! Baton Rouge Beard Contest April 14, 2011 (Warning: Very Hairy) - 03/07/11 12:23 AM
I was heading to go bask in the sun when something on the tube caught my eye. Most of the time, if the television is on…you best believe it’s going to be on the I.D. channel. I’m a sucker for mystery and have stock in 48 hours (kind of, not really). Today, I accidently made it to the travel channel, an obvious mistake because I’m not a traveler. Well, not leisurely but I do run up the mileage showing rental property. So, there was an unusual show on the travel channel called “Extreme Competitions”. I would explain what the show is … (4 comments)

Where Can I Find Cupcakes in Baton Rouge? - 03/06/11 12:39 PM
I am a cupcake lover. There’s just something about a good, moist cupcake topped with a little bit lot of sweetness. Personally, I always say if the icing doesn’t hit the nose…it was not made properly. I recently discovered that some of the best cupcakes have been hiding at “Sweet Wishes”, which is a gourmet cupcake shop on Perkins Road. I actually stopped by “Sweet Wishes” to get a dozen cupcakes for a friend who had helped me out recently. Of course, she absolutely loved them but I didn’t dare mention that six were missing. Luckily, I didn’t incriminate myself by … (1 comments)

Adult Hip-Hop Dance Classes in Baton Rouge & Surrounding Areas - 03/05/11 08:13 PM
“I said a hip hop, the hibbit, the hibbit to the hip hip hop and you don’t stop.I rock on baby bubba to the boogity bang bang, the boogie to the boogity beat.”

Remember the lyric, spitting granny on the “Wedding Singer”? This is (hands down) my favorite part of the movie. The only way it could possibly be any more hilarious would be if Betty White took the place of the granny. Sorry, granny. You’re probably wondering why “the hibbet to the hip hip hop” is relevant? Actually, it’s not. While I searched Baton Rouge for hip-hop, dance … (4 comments)

Looking for "Dance Classes in Baton Rouge": 2011 Revised: Shake it! - 03/04/11 09:15 PM
I stumbled on Hannah Montana the other day and couldn’t help but chuckle at Billy Ray Cyrus. Billy Ray is actually featured on the Disney Channel? Who decided this? Yes, I know I’m a day late but today was the first time I actually sat and watched Hannah Montana. (Um, that’s just between you and me) Old Billy Ray, (aka: the mullet rocker) talk about some old memories of the old school days. There was some serious hype connected to the man back in the day and if I remember correctly, all the women had the hots for him and his … (3 comments)

Press Release: Remembering Christina Williams - 03/04/11 04:51 PM

The world never stops spinning and it will continue to spin even as some of us take our last breath. While some of us escape into another dimension, earth never seizes rotation and those who have crossed over seemingly become faded memories. Clinging to these individual memories society fights to keep them alive by honoring them and acknowledging their presence. Most are fortunate enough to freely remember their lost loved ones due to the astounding impact they left with mother earth. Some voices become muted after boarding the after-life but there are those that left such an impact that there … (9 comments)

Baton Rouge Kids Birthday Party Ideas: Mobile Parties ON THE GO! - 03/03/11 11:18 PM
I consider birthday parties an additional perk to having a child. I had no idea I was going to be one of those moms that seriously got into planning parties. I think I get more excited about birthdays than my son does. Of course, I know that he does not even remember the first three and in a few years, I know I am going to have to give into Spiderman, Transformers and Yo Gabba Gabba. Cooper’s first birthday party was a disco party. The party was decked out with disco decorations that I got from Party Time in Baton Rouge. … (1 comments)
