History is History is someone's opinion. - 01/27/08 02:45 PM
Being English and not having been here that long, things keep popping up that make me think.
No, not alarm every time somebody mentions pants, I am already used to that.
This time it comes from history and your perception of it. I spent most of Friday night and Saturday attending a weekend training session for Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) at their HQ on James Island, Charleston. As a side note, I do some volunteer work on kayaking prior to becoming a formal part time Instructor with them.
Anyway, one of the topic's covered was local history. The two subjects which … (2 comments)

You can have your cake and eat it! - 01/23/08 01:35 PM
This weekend gone, my wife's Prudential office decided to have an office Chili Cook-off. It was also four of the agents birthdays. The broker of this office is a friend of ours and knowing that my wife can work a miricle in the kitchen, asked if she could make a cake at short notice. My wife said she was sure she could do something, but given the time constriants, was not sure what she could do.
Well eight busy hours later, this appeared;
I was pretty impressed and so was everybody at the Chili cook off.
My wife reckons that it could have been better … (5 comments)

To those using the internet to find a new home. - 01/18/08 09:26 AM
Having trawled through many websites looking for and at properties many in South Carolina but not restricted to there. One piece of information, that maybe usefully if you are looking for a house via the internet is...
Not all available homes are on the internet, OBVIOUS, I here you cry, well yes it is, but not all homes are available on the popular well advertised internet websites.
Unless you are looking and using a combination of popular internet sites, including FSBO's and a Real Estate Agents or Brokers internet site to search the areas MLS (Mutiple Listing Service) then you are missing possible suitable … (0 comments)

Things I Did Not Know!!! - 01/18/08 08:38 AM

Ever heard of Realogy.com, I had not. Well they seam to be the company behind Century 21, Coldwell Banker (Resident & Commercial), Sotheby's International Realty, ERA and NRT. Not to mention associated companies like TRG (Title Resource Group) and Cartus (An employee relocation service).
It's amazing what you don't know.

Snee Farm, Mount Pleasant, SC - Interest in Community - 01/17/08 04:59 PM
Would appear that interest in moving into this community is high. At an "open House" this weekend (Sunday 13th), traffic was up to 15 visitor in the first hour, 25 over the 3 hour "open house" (2.00pm - 5.00pm).
It happened that there were 3 open houses in the same street at the same time, maybe 3 times the signs and advertising works. Worth considering getting together with other agents who have listing in the same area.
I know that this was also done with over 50 "open house" properties at once in the Belle Hall Community recently, with great success.

Snee farm, Mount Pleasant, SC - Open Houses - 01/17/08 04:50 PM
Information that may be worth knowing.
Apparently you are not allowed to put "open house" signs on any Snee Farm community common land. There are fines that are issued to the home owner for doing so.
Not an ideal way to impress the client.
Please check this information and post any comments or further information here.

It comprises of 23 new single family homes, just off US Highway 41 in the historic Phillip's Community which dates back to former slaves or "freedmen" who settled here in the 1870's.

Illegal workers eligible for worker's comp. - 01/12/08 04:40 PM
This is from a story in the Charleston Post & Courier.
The South Carolina Sumprene Court, Columbia, SC has ruled that illegal immigrants who are injured on the job are entitled to worker's compensation.
This raised some questions in my mind.
An illegal worker should not be working, illegal immigrants should not be here, we have a legal process.
That said, on a humanitrian level, does the fact that you are illegal and you are working, give somebody the right to disregard another persons health and safety and be unaccountable if the worse happens?

Real Estate License - 01/12/08 03:01 PM
Well, I have got to the point of undertaking the training to take my real estate license here in South Carolina. Now I know many Agents out there will be groaning that there are too many Agent already. Well I would tend to agree, but I am expanding a Team and will be working as my wifes assistance (licensed).
Anyway, I don't know if it's the same across the country, but here in South Carolina there may be hope! I contacted the Real Estate Board down here, to be told that they had cancelled the January Pre-Licensing courses. So I rang an … (2 comments)
