Forbes Magazine ranked Collin County as the 14th best place in the United States to raise a family.
Here is Forbes analysis of Collin County: "Home to the burgeoning northern suburbs of Dallas, Collin County is a great value play for families. An affordable median house price of $191,000 means access to a school system that boasts a 1,103 average SAT score and a graduation rate of 93%. One caveat: a sub-par crime rate of 34.7 index crimes per 1,000 people."

Salary.com has ranked Plano, TX as the #1 city in the United States to build personal wealth. As a resident and Realtor in Plano, I can wholeheartedly agree with this ranking.
Salary.com looked at the following factors: "Local salaries, cost of living, and unemployment relative to the national average. This year's list also factored in qualitative measures including diversity of industry, education level of the cities' population, proximity to post secondary institutions, percent of population below poverty level, and median travel time to work."

I had the smoothest and easiest closing I've done in my 5 years as a Realtor. I didn't want to blog about it until it closed because I didn't want to jinx it. I just wanted to share this great experience because the easy ones are some times far and few between.

You wouldn't know it based on what the local media reports but local prices are UP compared to last year. The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight is reporting that Dallas/Fort Worth prices in the first quarter were up versus the same time last year (up 3.76% in Dallas and 2.59% in Fort Worth). This contrasts with a 3.1% nationwide price decline over the same period.
The local newspaper and TV stations always report national numbers but real estate in local. You can't quote numbers for the entire nation and apply it to Dallas.

I read this on the City of Plano website and thought this information was interesting.
At 72 square miles, geographically speaking, Plano is larger than San Francisco, Boston, Minneapolis, Washington, DC and Manhattan to name but a few! Our population is over 260,000 residents so we are smaller than these over cities but we are still growing.
With over 1,950 miles of Plano sidewalks, laid end on end they would stretch from Plano to Yosemite National Park in California with a side trip into Reno which is over 271 miles from Yosemite!

I thought all the sports fans out there might be interested in the new Cowboys stadium in Arlington, TX. My family has had season tickets since the Cowboys were at the Cotton Bowl and we had our appointment last Friday with the Dallas Cowboys to pick our seats at the new stadium in Arlington. We drove to the new stadium location and visited their preview center with our sales counselor.
Here is the stadium currently under construction. The stadium is really big! It won't be ready until the Fall of 2009.

Here are the latest home sales statistics for Plano, TX in the November of 2007. I've also included the stats for the 3rd Qtr of 2006 as a comparison to our current market.
All in all, The DFW market is still a great place to buy real estate!

New statistics from the Census Bureau on household income in America in 2006 show Plano at the top with the highest median household income for a city with more than 250,000 people. CNNMoney.com reports the average Plano household makes $77,038 a year. That's ahead of San Jose ($73,804) and San Francisco ($65,497), and well above the national median household income of $48,451.
And our real estate market is still fairly healthy compared to other areas in the county, Plano is a great place to live!
