holladay: 10 Salt Lake City Homebuyer Turnoffs - 07/12/11 10:08 AM
Do you remember back in 2007 when homebuyers would literally beg to purchase your home? Even bidding more than asking price for the opportunity to do so?  Wow, what a difference a couple of years make!  Today, this is not the case. But instead of buying, they're waiting, convinced that housing prices will continue to drop.
What's a smart seller to do in this environment? Here are 10 items that sellers should take a look at and handle TODAY!

holladay: UTA Wins Big In Sandy - 05/31/11 07:35 PM
Sandy City Council Members reverse an earlier decision to keep UTA (Utah Transit Authority) from building a new Park and Ride lot at the new 114th South freeway exit, to accommodate a future Trax stop. UTA has apparently met the conditions set forth by the two votes that held up their ability to proceed. This is continued growth for Sandy City and surrounding areas, and was likely inevitable, once the on/off ramps were completed at 114th South on I15.  Unfortunately, some Sandy homeowners are not happy about this reversed decision and feel it will negatively effect their Sandy property values.

holladay: Salt Lake City Real Estate Sees More Signs of Hope - 05/16/11 06:32 PM
We LOVE hearing great news for our Utah real estate market!
Although Utah continued to have the fourth highest foreclosure rate in the nation in April (according to the latest RealtyTrac report), the number of foreclosures actually went down from April 2010... significantly. Dave Anderton with the Salt Lake Board of Realtors believes the report shows Utah’s economy is on the upswing.
“It shows me that foreclosures have crested and we’re finally coming off that peak from 2010 when they were at all time highs in Utah and the nation,” he says. “The economy is getting better and I think people … (0 comments)

holladay: Analysts Say Housing Is On Its Way UP! - 04/28/11 07:24 AM
REAL ESTATE ANALYSTS SAY HOUSING IS ON ITS WAY BACK UP! Analysts at both Standard & Poor's and Barclays Capital agree that the uptick in home resales last month is a favorable sign of things to come. Because pending home sales — an indicator of future activity — were up in February, S&P believes transaction volume will rise for April and continue with this trend through May. Barclays, meanwhile, says March's 3.7 percent gain in existing-home sales merely reinforces its position that the housing market actually hit bottom in late 2010.
Truly good news for everyone, especially for Salt Lake … (3 comments)

holladay: "HOT TICKET" ITEMS TODAY'S SALT LAKE CITY HOMEBUYER WANTS AND IS GETTING - 04/12/11 01:19 PM

The Salt Lake City homebuyer today wants it all!
Just a few of the items today's Salt Lake City real estate homebuyer is seeking: a home for sale in great condition with rooms that can do double duty. Areas that mingle indoor and outdoor living -- patios, porches, decks and outdoor rooms -- are always a plus. And so are those features that offer a little luxury, like garden spa-like tubs, first-rate appliances and high-end countertops.
They're also going back to basics: searching for solid, well-maintained Draper properties that will give them their money's worth.
But more than anything, buyers … (3 comments)

holladay: Democrats and Republicans cut it close... again. - 04/11/11 06:24 PM
A partial shutdown of the federal government was avoided late Friday night, when Democrats and Republicans agreed on a budget deal and a short-term funding extension little more than an hour before the deadline. The extension cuts spending by $2 billion and will last through next Friday, April 15.
But all the uncertainty leading up to this decision was just one factor that caused Bonds and home loan rates to worsen through the week. On Thursday, as expected the European Central Bank (ECB) raised their benchmark rate in an effort to curtail rising inflation, meaning the Euro now trades at its … (0 comments)

holladay: Utah Real Estate - Businesses Look At Utah As The New Land Of Opportunity - 03/30/11 03:47 AM
Utah promises economic salvation as the new land of opportunity

Forbes magazine, which placed Utah as #1 in its annual ranking of "Best States for Business," just may have said it best: Companies are getting the message that Utah is the right place for business.
Newsweek heralded Utah as the “Promised Land” in a story titled “How Utah Became the New Economic Zion.”
Newsweek also said, “Defining itself against the liberal left coast is an act of jujitsu. Utah’s biggest potential liability—its conservative, religious populus—becomes an indisputable strength. Utah’s people are, indeed, an employer’s dream. They are healthy, hard … (1 comments)

holladay: Homes Sales On The Rise In Draper and Sandy Utah - 03/23/11 08:20 PM
Salt Lake City Market Update:
The Salt Lake Board of REALTORS® announced that 1,934 existing single-family homes were sold in Salt Lake County in the fourth quarter of 2010, down 21 percent compared to 2,450 sales in the fourth quarter 2009.
“It’s no surprise that home sales were down compared to last year,” said DeAnna Dipo, President of the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS®. “Last year at this time the $8,000 federal tax credit created a surge in home sales. However, the most recent fourth quarter sales numbers are up 12 percent compared to home sales in the fourth quarter of … (0 comments)
