For all those new and repeat buyers who had hoped to cash in on the Federal Tax credit that are still awaiting clearance to close and hoping to make it before the deadline of June 30th, you'll be happy to know that there's still hope for an extension.

Inman News has just reported that the House of Representatives has passed a stand alone bill that would extend the settlement deadline on the $8000 Federal tax credit for first time homebuyers.

For those of you who love fireworks and might have missed the Annual Town of Ramapo Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks at Rockland Community College this past Sunday, not to worry.  You can still watch some great displays every night this weekend, beginning with Thursday evening (at Nanuet High School).   
Here's a list of some of the best fireworks displays in Rockland County this week-end.

Time to Fix the Sins of the Thruway's Past - Tappen Zee Corridor Project - Rockland County Open House - June 30, 2010

The Tappen Zee Bridge was opened in 1955 with hopes that it would bring more jobs and more business to the surrounding neighborhoods that bordered the Thruway, on either side of the bridge.  At the time, no one was overly concerned about the possible increase in noise, air pollution or traffic jams. The economic benefits envisioned seemed to far outweigh all else.  In addition, no one predicted that the bridge would deteriorate so rapidly.

The Town of Ramapo's  Celebration of Liberty and Pride, Concert and Fireworks - Sunday, June 27,2010 at Rockland Community College in Suffern NY
The Town of Ramapo is once again commemorating Independence Day with a Music and Fireworks display. Their  annual "Celebration of Liberty and Pride" is scheduled to take place this Sunday, June 27 from 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM at Rockland Community College's athletic fields. Admisssion to this annual event (both the concert and the fireworks) is free.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's in our lives.
My Dad has been gone over 30 years by now. He was one of the warmest, most caring people I ever knew and I find myself missing him still.  There are times, like this past week when I married off my youngest daughter, that his absense is still strongly felt.  I found myself thinking how much he would have enjoyed being a part of it all.
