QR Codes - Using Mobile Technology to Market Your Business! - 10/27/10 10:40 AM

There's been lots of talk about QR codes and how to use them in real estate.  Until a few weeks ago I had never even heard of a QR code and was still in a state of fog about how to use them until I read this great blog by RealSupport Inc. - (real estate virtual assistants) giving  a very down to earth clear explanation of just what are QR codes , and how they can be used.  (For more about the origin of QR Codes, check out the history of QR codes.)

Life is Full of Blessings - Let's Count Them! - Pay it Forward

There's a senior residential community that abuts the congregation I belong to.  The most senior member of this congregtion ( a women close to 90) was in mourning for the loss of her brother, her last remaining sibling.  This morning I paid her a condolence call.  Though I frequently make condolence calls, this one was different.
Not too many 90 year olds sit "shiva" (the 7 day period of mourning observed by Jewish mourners)  in solitude.  There are usually other family members "sitting shiva" with you and … (9 comments)

Why Are All The Buyers Disappearing? - 10/24/10 12:48 AM
Why Are All the Buyers Disappearing?

In a strong economy, under normal conditions, approximately 1.7 million new housing units are needed every year to fill the demand from an increase in the number of new households formed.
The numbers of households formed is affected by many factors among them marriage rates, immigration, divorce, kids going out on their own and those buying vacation properties or second homes.
But, in a week economy, people are concerned about finding jobs and keeping them, they are not thinking about taking on any extra financial commitments and buying a home is a major one.  … (14 comments)

Video How to Video - How to Have Your Lender Produce the Note - 10/18/10 09:40 AM

Only the current owner of the property, the one that holds the "Note" proving that they are the current owner of the mortgage loan on your home, can forclose on you.  If they can't produce the note, they need to prove ownership of the loan before they can proceed with forclosure.  It's your right to demand they produce it and this video via Fran Gatti, tells us how.

There's More Than One Way to Get Paid in Real Estate  - Pay It Forward

Just recently I had a  rental client that I would have liked to drop.  It was an extended family of Mom, Pop, 4 adult kids, two of whom were married, with two infant grandchildren.  They were looking for a 4-5 bedroom house to share.  Together their incomes could support the rent of the typical 4 bedroom home and their references were stellar.
The problem was they needed something immediately and their credit was either lousy or non-existent.  I was getting frustrated working with them, … (18 comments)

Creating a Mom Cave
Men have had their "cave's" long enough.  Now it's time for them to move over and give the Mom's a turn.
Wouldn't you love a place to get away from it all, an escape where you can do all those things that you love, a place you can claim as your own?
It's not that hard to create one.  Just find a corner you can claim as your own - that's the hard part.  Then work at making it pretty, well lit and comfortable.  Storage is key and a … (17 comments)

White House Goes Green - 10/11/10 01:19 PM
White House Goes Green!
The White House  is going green and it's about time!
Plans are underway to add Solar Panels and a solar hot water heater to the roof of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue by spring of next year. These panels will heat water for the first family and supply some of their electricity.

The use of solar energy in the white house was first initiated by President Carter and then later, again by President George Bush.
President Carter in the late 1970's spent $30,000 on a solar water-heating system for the West Wing offices of the white house. … (7 comments)

Flips and Pics
How Do You Use Your Flipcam?
Do you just rely on the listing agents listing photos when seraching for your dream home?
Don't!

When you visit properties, why not document what you see with your own two eyes by taking your own digital pictures or videos.   There are definite advantages.
Besides documenting the property from your own visual perspective, it helps you keep track of which house had that super backyard and which one had the kitchen to die for, instead of having them all blend one into the other. If you're relocating or moving out of … (17 comments)

Buy or Rent? - 10/10/10 02:01 AM
Buy or Rent?
There's been so much bad press about the housing market and it all has served to discourage all those potential buyers sitting on the fence, waiting for the market to turn.  If you're one of those on the fence, wondering whether or not this is a good time to give up that rental and take the plunge and become a homeowner, you may find it reassuring to know that the chief advantages of owning your own home have very little to do with financial gain and alot more to do with personal comfort and satisfaction.
Here are some reasons why you … (4 comments)

New way to Vote in Rockland County, NY - 10/07/10 06:21 PM
A New Way to Vote in Rockland County
There's a new way to vote in Rockland County, NY.  The primaries in September were our first introduction to the new system.  Personally, I preferred the old method but then, it takes time to acclimate to change.  The plan is to implement this new system state-wide.  The advantage is that the count is immediate, but  I found the new method less private and not very "green"  (all that paper wasted!).  But again, it takes time to acclimate to change.
If you didn't vote in the primaries, check out this video for a preview of the new … (4 comments)
