Just thought I would pass the below information along. It was emailed to me by my attorney concerning transfer tax and recordation on short sales in Maryland.  
Its a quick read but just goes to show that the "Powers that be" are always looking for a way to squeeze another dollar out of the taxpayer. I would expect other States to follow the example set by Maryland.

Things are looking up in Middle River Maryland 21220 in the housing market for 2007!
January 2007 figures:
Active Listings:145  SOLD: 27  Months of Inventory: 5.37 Average Days on Market: 71
Median SOLD Price of $176,000 (90.4% of list price) which is -8.09% from Jan 2006
February 2007 figures:
Active Listings:138  SOLD: 27  Months of Inventory: 5.11 Average Days on Market: 80
Median SOLD Price of $199,900 (94.3% of list price) which is +17.6% from Feb 2006
Things are moving in the right direction! Higher sale prices, Contracts closer to list price and inventory on market reducing!

I was sitting on the computer tonight checking my email and some of the latest blog posts. Along the way I ran across several news articles that discussed how much the market has changed and how BAD the Real Estate Market is.
As a Realtor, I watch the local markets very close. Working Eastern Baltimore County, Middle River is one of the local markets I keep an eye on.
