thanksgiving: 100,000 Points On The Money!!! - 11/22/07 12:23 PM

I noticed this morning that I was getting close to breaking the 100,000 point threshold.
The total was 99,980.  Then I thought, wouldn't it be cool to hit it right on the mark?
But how do you get 20 points?  Then it came to me.  I had recruited my wife over a year ago and she never developed a desire to blog.  She enjoyed the Active Rain Party in Chicago.  And she enjoyed the Active Rain Party in Las Vegas.......until she passed out in the corner ;)

thanksgiving: Have a SAFE and Happy Thanksgiving! (Part Two) - 11/18/07 08:38 AM

Last year I wrote a post called Have a SAFE and Happy Thanksgiving!.  This year I wanted to give you a little bit more time to prepare for everything so I'm posting this one early. 
Please plan to have your leftovers back into refrigeration as soon as possible after dinner but at least before the critical two hour mark.  That two hour window starts the time the food is removed from the oven/stove.

Since more foodborne illnesses occur at home than any place else and having owned a restaurant for 17 years I have a few tips for everyone on this Thanksgiving Day:
1) Wash your hands continuously, especially when handling raw meat products and fresh produce.
2) Wash and sanitize all food prep areas and utensils before, during, and after food preperation, especially after preparing raw meat products.
3) The best way to thaw a frozen turkey is in a refrigerator, not on the counter.  The outside surfaces of the turkey could get warm (above 40 degrees) while the inside is still frozen.  You do not … (3 comments)
