Scotch Meadows and Deercroft Qualifies for CHIP - Scotland County, NC - 04/19/10 09:58 AM
I just got the poop on the Community Homeowner Incentive Program (CHIP) that BB&T has from a local mortgage advisor.  This is a great program and since Deercroft and Scotch Meadows in Scotland County, NC that are currently under served, they waive the income requirements for those 2 neighborhoods.
The program has income maximum requirements for Scotland County of $48,200 for the 97% loan and a maximum income of $38,560 for the 100% loan which are waived for the 2 neighborhoods mentioned above.  These loans DO NOT HAVE PMI insurance that can save your buyers a ton on their mortgage payments! … (0 comments)

One of my favorite restaurants in Laurinburg is Mi Casita Restauranté Mexicano restaurant on South Main Street across from St. Andrews Presbyterian College.  The Mi Casita Corporation, established in 1990 opened their restaurant in Laurinburg, NC around 17 years ago and since that time, they have slowly transformed their building into a very authentic-looking old Mexico restaurant.  The tile work in the foyer is spectacular.

Ellsworth Stubbs left farming in 1935 to open a radio repair shop called E. M. Stubbs on Fairly Street in Laurinburg, NC which also became a great hangout for businessmen and retirees over the years.  In its heyday, as many as 15-20 people would come by the store to sit and get caught up on the local gossip and enjoy each others company.

Beyond having a charming downtown area, Laurinburg, NC has many things that attract visitors and retirees to town.  Thanks to the strong equestrian program at St. Andrews Presbyterian College with over 100 horses and 200 students majoring in equestrian programs, Laurinburg, NC is becoming an equestrian community.  We have an abundance of farmland and we have several nice properties on the market in which to choose.

Ballroom Dancing in Laurinburg, NC - 04/03/10 08:12 PM
 

Picture shows class dancing in the parking lot waiting to get in the building.  This shows how much people enjoy dancing.
We have started a new ballroom dancing classes in Laurinburg and will be starting a new class on April 12th.  This class has been a lot of fun with around 25 people taking it.  Dances include the Foxtrot, Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Hustle, Salsa and once we get good at them, there are dances in West End, Rockingham, Carthage, Florence, Raleigh, Fayetteville and soon we'll have a class in Laurinburg, NC too.

I started the Laurinburg Community Garden in 2008 thanks to the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church and their land which is some of the best farm land in Scotland County, NC.  This year, we have 63 plots and will be providing drip irrigation as an option and every plot will have a shared spigot.  In addition to the plots that are cultivated and limed, we provide a covered picnic area, mulch, compost, 17" tiller, hand tools, big wheel plow and honey bees.  All we ask is that you maintain your plot, you pick your produce and that you give 10% to a … (0 comments)

Staying active is very important for so many things that help keep you young and alert.  We are creating an active adult community in Laurinburg to complement the excellent children's programs that we have so that we can stay active in a variety of social and athletic type activities.
