training: Have you heard of "the Brainbench"? - 04/10/08 04:47 AM
I took this assessment last night, called the Brainbench Sales Concepts.  Have you hever heard of it?  It took me an hour to take a 40 question test.
Brainbench said that I passed with a score of 3.73 out of 4.  The score demonstrates a clear understanding of many advanced concepts within the  Sales process.  Also, it appears that I am capable of mentoring others on most projects.  The test results confirmed that my strong areas are as follows:
1.  Analyzing Business Opportunities
2.  Closing
3.  Building pipelines and forecasts
4.  Sales Essentials
5.  Building long lasting relationships
 Thought I'd share the news.

training: Focus on the best possible outcome.... - 04/08/08 07:29 AM
Benjamin Carson noted, "Everybody has barriers and obstacles.  If you look at them as containing fences that don't allow you to advance, then you're going to be a failure.  If you look at them as hurdles that strengthen you each time you go over one, then you're going to be a success."
L. Jackson Brown Jr. says, "Hope is a periscope which enables us to see over our present problems to future possibilities."
Don't give up hope.  Don't give up on what you really want to do.  Just remember: THE PERSON WITH BIG DREAMS IS MORE POWERFUL THAN THE ONE WITH … (7 comments)

training: Free Tip for Microsoft Excel - A - 04/04/08 07:22 AM
How to Easily copy specific columns from a filtered list ?
When you use the Advanced Filter feature, you have the option to copy the filtered results to a new location. While this is convenient, you may not want the new list to include all of the columns from the original list or you may prefer that the columns are in a different order. Fortunately, you don't have to do a lot of clean-up work to re-order or remove columns. Before you execute the filter, select the destination where you want to create the new list. Then, enter the names of the … (2 comments)

training: Do you talk to yourself....Here is how its done? - 04/04/08 07:13 AM
Check out your "self-talk."Jim Stovall says, "The only sales job you will ever have to do is to yourself."
Are you sold on you?  Your own self abilities?
Bruce Burton noted that: "Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared to believe that something inside them was superior to circumstance." Examine yourself.  Are you be thinking, reading, and speaking a hope-filled language or a hopeless one?  What are you saying to yourself?  "I can do this" or "I'll manage"?To have HOPE, you must talk to yourself ... continuously ... ever changing.  As psychologist Stephen Covey points out, "Our behavior is … (8 comments)

training: Without a VISION, the People...... Perish. What? - 04/03/08 08:39 AM
Do you know exactly what it takes to get to the top and stay at the top ...
.........in your career, your relationships, and your life.
the key is HOPE!
because hope casts a vision ... at the same time it gives you energy to realize your vision.
You need to be plugged into a source of power.  It will enhance your hope factor.  Where are you plugged in?  Where is your source of power coming from?  Who can get you plugged in?  And once you do get plugged in, Why do you stay plugged in?
I'd like to know what you think?

training: How to become excellent in what you do? - 03/28/08 01:10 AM
1.  Use praise and reward.  When people seek for excellence, they typically do it for a reason.  Maybe the work makes them feel good, it does for me.  Maybe it helps them master a skill, it does for me.  Or Maybe it helps you move ahead in your career, and it does for me.  I do everything for a reason.  Well one of the main reasons people pursue excellence is because they want to receive praise.  Why not Praise excellent performance!  It makes a difference in someone's life or career. So give some praise to someone today  ... and then sprinkle in some … (8 comments)

training: Following up with your clients... how well do you do it? - 03/27/08 02:51 AM
Follow up

Most major presentations and meetings of any complexity will require follow-up work and responses. The quality of this work is just as important as the presentation, in reaching your final business objectives. It would be rather tragic to not achieve your goals because of inadequate follow up after exerting such an effort on the presentation itself. Below are a few of our key follow-up activities. As a team, we generally discuss these before a presentation.
Next day courtesies

Our plan was to have a key person call the managers who attended the presentation, and to also have … (8 comments)

training: Plan and conduct a successful presentation - 03/27/08 02:47 AM
Know your client

In preparing for your presentation, you want to optimally "set the stage" for the best chance of achieving your objectives. Knowledge of your client's practices and culture can make a significant difference. It helps you appear more informed, create a positive meeting atmosphere, and understand their critical business issues. For example, one of the most basic understandings is what time your client starts and finishes their day. Don't schedule a 7 a.m. start if it will irritate your client because they start their day at 8 a.m. End your days with the client in mind. Understand if … (3 comments)

training: Moving from thoughts to actions - 03/25/08 07:03 AM
Mediocre people say, "That's not my job."  Excellent people say, "Whatever it takes."  Are you just putting in your time or are you really "putting in your time ..  And your energy.
There are 2 kind of people:
1.  Those who do and those who don't.
2.  Those who stand up and those who stay seated.
3.  Those who put in their time and those who put in their time. And in today's world, EVERY person needs to strive to be excellent ... if you're going to compete ... serve your others well ... grow ... and be profitable.  Those who are … (10 comments)

training: How to secure a server? and I don't mean a restaurant server. - 03/05/08 05:07 AM
Just when you think you've thought of everything you can possibly secure on a server, a hacker comes along who finds yet another way to hack into one of your servers. If you're unsure of whether you've secured everything on a server, or if you aren't sure of even where to start, check out the new Security Configuration Wizard. SCW is designed to minimize the "attack surface" on servers by disabling all unnecessary services, ports, and other components. NOTE:  The new Security Configuration Wizard isn't installed by default when you install Service Pack 1.  And by paring your servers down to … (1 comments)

training: Don't Slay the Dragon; Recruit Him - 03/05/08 04:49 AM
Great article about getting past the gatekeeper...Remember - everyone struggles with this during cold and warm calls!
"Don't Slay the Dragon; Recruit Him"
At your next sales meeting, ask thereps to draw a picture that captures their feeling about administrative assistants. Chances are, you'll get pictures of dragons, armed guards blocking the entrance to a castle, knights holding shields between reps and money, and other "gatekeeper" types of images. Armed with these images, you can begin to help your reps overcome one of the biggest challenges in cold calling: getting past the administrative assistant. It starts with a change … (0 comments)

training: What is New with Windows Vista in 2008? - 03/05/08 04:44 AM
Microsoft built into Windows Vista several new features designed to make all types of searches quicker and easier than in previous versions of Windows. But in many cases, you don't have time to experiment with and configure these options - you just need to find the file, and fast. Because Vista is so different than XP, you may struggle to find files in even the simplest file searches.
You can find Vista's new Instant Search throughout the interface, but you might not find the files you need when you use it. Instant Search allows you to simply type text in an … (3 comments)

Its not round, its not sweet, and you can't eat it.
A cookie is a small text file that a website creates and stores on your computer for later retrieval. For example, a cookie might contain your user ID and password, as well as your viewing preferences for that site. The next time you visit the site, it retrieves the personal information stored in the cookie it saved to your hard drive and uses that information to construct a personalized interface. training: Have the winter blahs struck again? - 03/05/08 03:47 AM
Here are some things that can help.... you know we all need a little motivation.
1. Write down all the good things you accomplished in 2007.
2. Establish realistic goals for the coming months. This exercise might alleviate your anxiety about the future and help lift your mood.
3. Change your routine. Even getting away for the weekend can arm you with the mental fuel to fight the grey weeks of winter still ahead.
4. Get more light. If you get a bit down when it's dark out, temporarily turn up the lights at home or buy a portable light that mimics the sun (but … (3 comments)

training: Happy IVGLDSW Day! - 03/04/08 08:27 AM
Today is International Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman's Day, so please tell someone you think fits this description. And remember this motto to live by: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO what a ride!' Have a wonderful day !

training: Pay attention to what you're thinking... - 03/04/08 08:23 AM
Average people bail out when times get tough.  Well, I know you don't want to be average, or you wouldn't be an active member of ActiveRain.
I've found three things that work.1.  Persevere. - good things come to those who wait.
2.  Deflect the negativity of others. - you become who you hang around.
3.  Monitor your own thoughts. - Think on things that are true, honest, and good.
Action:  Consciously decide to discard holding on to things that are not healthy.
Hope you are having a great March.
