As a new realtor, I knew that I wanted to work in luxury properties.  I have always loved nice things, including nice homes.  When you take those wonderfully lengthy real estate classes, no one tells you one important fact- marketing yourself is important to get listings, but what you do with them once you get them is equally as important.  I never knew how much it cost to properly list a property and that different proprerties required different amounts of marketing and attention. My first listing wasn't a million dollar home (it wasn't even $100,000!), but I still did ample advertising and … (4 comments)

memphis: The Luxury Market Goes Low Brow - 12/22/07 11:20 PM
With teenagers wearing $100 jeans, 8 year olds with PDA-ready cellphones, and everybody with a Hermes bag, where does the luxury market stand?  
As a Luxury Realtor, by definition I work with buyers and sellers in the market of homes costing $500,000+.  Now, with builders giving buyers everything short of a free Ferrari to buy their homes, luxury is truly a state of mind.  In the Memphis area, buyers can get a great home, with outstanding amenities, for as little as $400,000.  Granite, hardwood, media rooms, and more aren't uncommon is this price range these days.  The economy has driven the … (5 comments)
