board of regents: Luxury Real Estate Networking Trip offers exclusive tour of Plaza Hotel - 09/16/08 05:48 AM
This is a plug for the the upcoming 13th Annual Luxury Real Estate Fall Conference. I thought I'd just say that at the start. I hope to talk about some more meaty things soon, since there is so much trouble going on because of foolish greed, but today I'll focus on this positive opportunity to network with fellow luxury brokers.Rosita Sarnoff, the Executive Vice President of Stribling & Associates, Ltd., recently shared some great activities her company is planning for Luxury Real Estate members who are attending the Post-Conference Networking Trip to New York City from Oct. 14-16, 2008. This Networking … (2 comments)

board of regents: Turning an average news release into a great one - 07/23/08 05:13 AM
I hope this doesn't sound too prideful, but I really like what I write. And I do a lot of writing as the Public Relations & Media Specialist for LuxuryRealEstate.com.While my blogs on ActiveRain and the LuxuryRealEstate.com Blog are sometimes quickly written and they don't have the benefit of as much outside editing as I usually receive for my other work, I think they give you a taste of my writing skill and style. My mind is constantly working before, during and after the writing process. I think about what is interesting about the story I am currently writing about. I ponder … (5 comments)

board of regents: John Brian Losh interview on Lakefront Radio a big success - 06/25/08 09:03 AM
As a follow-up to my last blog entry, I'd like to report on the interview LuxuryRealEstate.com Publisher/CEO John Brian Losh enjoyed on Lakefront Radio on Friday, June 20, 2008. It went very well, and I have to give a lot of credit to hosts Mary Thompson, Chuck Thompson and Lee Kantor for asking great questions and being a lot of fun on air. They sound like they really enjoy their work. You can listen to the full 38-minute radio show online.Mr. Losh discussed the recent sale of Donald Trump's $100 million estate and some other great news items. He also went into … (1 comments)

board of regents: Charity never faileth – Florida broker gives gifts to children - 12/20/07 07:10 AM
I like talking about good people and the examples they set for others to follow. One particularly noteworthy person is Rob Thomson, the president of Waterfront Properties, which is the exclusive member of the Luxury Real Estate Board of Regents in Jupiter, Fla. About six years ago, this charitable man founded Charities for Children to pick up and deliver gifts for children who have little means of their own. In each of the past several years, this charity has delivered tens of thousands of gifts to local children. Most of Charities for Children's funds come from Mr. Thomson himself, although his fellow brokers and other … (0 comments)

board of regents: Sound advice on real-estate open houses - 12/13/07 08:48 AM
Open houses are excellent opportunities to bring potential buyers into a home and let them gain insights that are difficult to convey through written descriptions or even virtual tours. However, there is a potential risk for luxury real estate agents and others to be aware of, according to a recent article in The Chronicle Herald - stealing. Apparently, two women managed to steal $73,000 worth of jewelry and other valuables during several open houses in New York and New Jersey. Thankfully, they were caught and hopefully the belongings were returned to their rightful owners.I think that most people are honest and kind, so … (5 comments)

board of regents: Brad Pitt leads by example in New Orleans - 12/07/07 09:17 AM
It's been more than two years since Hurricane Katrina. The water has receded and hundreds of thousands of people have returned to their homes in New Orleans, but much more effort is needed to resurrect this city to its past greatness. Actor Brad Pitt is doing his best to lend a hand to this recovery process, according to this article on The Times-Picayune. Pitt and Angelina Jolie bought a palace in the French Quarter of New Orleans earlier this year with the help of their broker, Eleanor Farnsworth, the president of Prudential Gardner, Realtors. Farnsworth is an exclusive member of the … (1 comments)
