Errrrr, the Rottweiler - 04/29/11 09:04 AM
The RottweilerI had every intention of starting the day watching the Royal Wedding. I don't care what you think, I really enjoy the pomp, circumstance and the wacky 'facinators'. My alarm clock had another schedule for me today - it went off right on time but with no volume. Suddenly while dreaming about being in an open carriage waving to the crowds I opened my one eye and realized 'hey, it's too light out for 4:15 am? Yikes! So I sprang into action and ran for the TV to see what had happened so far. One thing I can't get over, (15 comments)

National Assoc. of Realtors Town Hall Meeting Rebuttal Town Hall Meeting Replay Here You will be asked to sign in and the program is 1.5 hours long. Please speak your opinions here (towards bottom). The meeting began with reading a portion of our Code of Ethics. What does our Code of Ethics have to do with real estate ownership? The actual ownership of property? Nothing in my opinion. What it does is directs our actions towards buyers, sellers or anyone we work with on a daily basis. What it is not is a constitutional right to home ownership. Even though we rally loudly for (37 comments)

Lipstick on a Pig – Understanding the Dangers of Rehabbed Foreclosures - 04/11/11 05:47 PM
Shoddy worksmanship - slipshot repairs by unskilled, unlicensed help. This is just the beginning for some of the more recent rehabs. Always have these properties inspected by a professional and due yourself some 'due diligence' and check with the village authorities about recent permits. Don't get me wrong, not all rehabs are bad but not all rehabs are good either. Just watch out for that 'lipstick on pig'. Great post from John Mulkey. Poor little Postlets has been gobbled up by Zillow! ay it isn't true! I really enjoy using Postlets and have used it for years. Except for my finding out that they advertise for Coldwell Banker on the side bar of my listing and then try and steal business away from me - I really like them! I won't use anything attached to Zillow just out of principle.Any other suggestions now?See the post here.

Rescuing a lost soul should not be based on having a fence! - 04/07/11 09:15 AM
Rescuing a lost soul should not be based on having a fence! Have been checking in and out of our local rescue shelters deciding if another dog is an option to add to my household (the Blog Dog says she needs a buddy!). Even the possibility of an interim foster mom for an abused or neglected dog would be great. Imagine getting this note from a local rescue center about an English Setter in my area: "We also require fenced in yards for all of our dogs and puppies (traditional or invisible) and non-smoking homes. BOTH OF THESE REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT (16 comments)
Illinois Landlords - New laws to be aware of! - 04/06/11 08:59 AM
Landlords be aware of new Illinois Laws coming on the horizon! Recently there has been a plethora of legislation in Illinois with landlord and tenant rights. Here are a few highlights:SELLER DISCLOSURE-TOXIC MOLD(HB 1543, sponsored by Representative Dan Beiser), amends the seller disclosure law to add toxic mold to the items on the disclosure list). The bill also contained a definition of toxic mold. Most home sellers would be aware of mold on the premises but few would know, without testing, whether it was toxic mold. Further discussions will occur on this issue.RADON DISCLOSURE-TENANTS(HB 141, sponsored by Representative Dan Reitz), adds very (9 comments)
Short Sale Reform - Rome is burning and all you can do is fiddle! - 04/05/11 09:07 AM
This is another installment of my guest blogger, Gary Lundeen, and his continuing saga with Short Sale Reform. Gary has single handedly taken it upon himself to write the Congress, all Senate members and the governors of each wonderful state. It is my sincere hope that reform is on the way but we can also use your help. Please take the time to write your elected officials about what you see everyday during your 'Short Sale Adventures'. I do not believe that our officials actually fathom the depth and scope of the bungling that banks are doing during the process. You (3 comments)
Heaven help us, we are surrounded by idiots! - 04/04/11 08:47 AM
Heaven help us, we are surrounded by idiots!OUR LEGISLATORS ...... are concerned that foreclosures are 'skewing' housing market prices. Now? They are concerned now? After how many years, depending on the regional area has the market been this way? This is an article from DSNews.com that came out Friday I'd like to share with you: "With foreclosure sales steadily rising, four states are concerned that the use of the foreclosure sale prices in appraisals of neighboring homes is distorting the market.Legislators in Illinois, Nevada, and Missouri have all proposed separate bills that would exclude or restrict foreclosure sales from being used as comparisons (18 comments)
