schaumburg assessor: Property Assessments finally getting adjusted - kinda! - 05/25/12 06:16 AM
There has been a passage of a bill in the IL Senate recently about how foreclosures and short sales should be included in the tax assessor's review.  Previously this was not the case and this bill should correct the current problem with these kinds of sales bringing down the values in our neighborhoods.
Everyone agrees that since your home is now worth less, our taxes should be lowered based on these sales. That's because were logical and the tax process is anything but logical.  There's always a catch and of course it's a big one.  This includes the entire state except … (4 comments)

Staff from the Schaumburg Township Assessor’s Office and Cook County Board of Review’s Office will be on hand to file your appeals that evening.  This seminar will be held at Schaumburg High School, 1100 W. Schaumburg Rd, Schaumburg, Illinois. The seminar will be held on May 3, 2011 at 6:30 pm. You need to bring your property tax bill. If your appeal is successful, it will reduce your property assessment, and possibly lower your total property tax bill. schaumburg assessor: Schaumburg Property Tax Increase - 12/07/10 03:48 PM
The Village of Schaumburg is on a PR blitz and I would like to throw in my 2¢ on the whole tax increase issue.   This is what the Village released in their newsletter and on the Village website:
"The Village Board approved a reduction in property taxes that impact the village’s portion of tax bills for residents and businesses. The board agreed to a $22.7 million tax levy for 2010 – which is 4.4 percent less than last year’s levy. The decrease is equal to about a $12 annual savings for a homeowner with a $250,000 house." The Village is nicely … (1 comments)

I was at the Schaumburg Township office yesterday and there were many people there protesting their taxes which I think is great.  Be prepared for lines and some waiting time and they do have chairs there for you to sit on until called. If you … (2 comments)

schaumburg assessor: Schaumburg Township - Senior Freeze and Senior Exemptions - 05/15/09 02:33 PM
Good news for seniors in Schaumburg Township and Cook County!
Senior Freeze Beginning in the tax year 2008, the total household gross income for the Senior Freeze increased to $55,000.  Also, the Senior Exemption amount will increase from $3500 to $4000 which translates to an approximate savings of $200.  Both of these changes are new State Statutes that were passed in 2008.  These changes will be reflected on the 2nd installment of your 2009 tax bill.
According to the Assessors Office:  “Qualified senior citizens can apply for a freeze of the assessed value of their property. Over time, in many … (2 comments)
