Village Property Tax Levy   The Schaumburg Village Board approved a reduction in property taxes that impact the village’s portion of tax bills for residents and businesses for the second year in a row. The board agreed to a $22.7 million tax levy for 2011 – which is 6 percent less than last year’s levy. I feel that Schaumburg should be sent a congratulations for keeping costs down and realizing the residents are seeing huge increases in other portions of their tax bills. Don't forget that Schaumburg is really only a small portion of your entire tax bill. The 'giant problem' is … (0 comments)

schaumburg il: Schaumburg IL Memorial Day Celebration 2011 - 05/31/11 06:45 PM
Schaumburg IL Memorial Day Celebration
Memorial Day was celebrated in one of the oldest areas of Schaumburg this weekend on the grounds of St. Peters Lutheran Church (1847) to honor our fallen veterans.

St. Peters Church is the oldest in the Schaumburg area dating back to 1852.  Many of the older headstones in the cemetery are in German and date back to that time when Schaumburg was just a sleepy farming community. The original school house is still located on the grounds.

schaumburg il: Schaumburg IL Area Recycling - 10/20/10 03:04 PM
Recycling in our community is right under our nose! I must have been living in a bubble but recently I've noticed that there are all kinds of great opportunities to get rid of your old electronics, batteries etc. that I never knew existed.  Believe me I'm not a 'tree hugger' by any stretch of the imagination but I do feel that throwing out your old laptop (which I recently had to do) shouldn't be a major chore.  I also believe that saving a million pounds of batteries from the land fills just might be an achievable goal.So here's what I've found … (7 comments)

A Foreclosure story - are you up for one?  This is a great post from Julie Ferenzi from Plainfield IL about how she found out her previous home is now a foreclosure.  A sad story about how a home is really more than just bricks & mortar.  How would you feel if this happened to your 'old' home?  What does 'home' represent to you?

schaumburg il: Autumn Ridge - Schaumburg IL Market Update - 01/28/10 01:38 PM
Autumn Ridge is considered one of the more upscale townhome communities in Schaumburg first developed in 1990 by Town and Country Builders.   When I first visited the subdivision many years ago it impressed with the brick exteriors and it offered a ranch model which was in buyer demand but never built by most builders.  For extras and unique points we have available:  vaulted ceilings, full wall brick fireplaces, end unit upgrades, 1st floor Familyrooms, palladium windows, lunette windows, catwalk landing, whirlpools, skylites.  Another rarity at the time was it also offered basements and buyer favored 2 car garages.
Autumn Ridge has a … (2 comments)
