The 25th Annual Community Paint-A-Thon will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012. While the date is a long way off, applications are now available at the Schaumburg Township Senior and Disability Services Departments.
If the exterior of your house needs to be painted due to peeling, fading or worn paint, consider applying. The program provides for the painting of the exterior of single family homes at no cost to those who qualify.

Was helping a new purchaser finish up with a few loose ends regarding his new home purchase in Hoffman Estates. Big problem - his taxes. Don't quite know what the previous owner did but it's a costly mistake. An absolute blunder! Taxes on this house are now $5809.07 for 2007. Walmart helps our community and they've generously donated $41,000 to the Schaumburg Food Pantry The Walmart Foundation has awarded a $41,000 grant to the Schaumburg Township Human Services Fund to support the operation of the township’s food pantry in the 2011 – 2012 fiscal year. The grant will enable the General Assistance Department, which operates the pantry; to acquire food from the Greater Chicago Food Depository; and facilitate pickups of surplus products from the many retail stores that donate items to the pantry.The community’s need for the pantry and for all our services has grown tremendously in these difficult economic times. … (6 comments)

Schaumburg Township Reassessment Notices Mailed Once you receive your reassessment notice you will be able to come into the Schaumburg Township Assessor's Office to begin filing your appeal.  The deadline to file your appeal with the Schaumburg Township Assessor's Office will be February 22nd, 2011.Township Holds Tax Appeal Seminar on February 8th, 2011 A tax appeal seminar for Schaumburg Township homeowners on how to appeal their new assessments will be held at 7pm on February 8th at Schaumburg High School.  Staff from the Cook County Assessor's Office will be there to file appeals. 2009 Schaumburg Township Assessment Information (Due and payable in 2010) This summer the Cook County Board passed new assessment levels on the entire county.  Residential went from 16% to 10%; Commercial from 38% to 25%; and Industrial from 36% to 25%.  Every property in Cook county will receive an assessment notice this year regarding the new assessment levels.  Schaumburg Township should expect to received the new assessment information by late 2009.When you receive your new assessment, please review it and if you do not think it is fair or in error contact the Assessor to file an appeal.Don't forget that we … (2 comments)

Schaumburg residents who meet eligibility requirements are invited to enroll in the Senior and Disabled Taxi Program. Participants must be registered with the State of Illinois' Circuit Breaker Program and provide proof of enrollment to the village.

Good news for seniors in Schaumburg Township and Cook County!  
Senior Freeze Beginning in the tax year 2008, the total household gross income for the Senior Freeze increased to $55,000.  Also, the Senior Exemption amount will increase from $3500 to $4000 which translates to an approximate savings of $200.  Both of these changes are new State Statutes that were passed in 2008.  These changes will be reflected on the 2nd installment of your 2009 tax bill.

This is a typical story of the little guy that is getting screwed by the giant behemoth called Cook County Illinois! 

The background behind this ‘punch to the pocket book’ is as follows:  Single lady with a very nice 2story townhouse around 1260 square feet with 2BR 2.5BA’s and a 1 car attached garage.  There are many great areas all thruout Schaumburg just like this and unfortuntely lots of people are handing over their hard earned money year after year.

Call Disability Services at (847) 884-0030, ext. 2025 for more information and an application from Illinois Telecommunication Access Corporation (ITAC).
