      <title>An Office Space That Blogs and Tweets??</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;big&gt;So everyone who reads my blog knows how much I love unique marketing ideas. Well, here's one that I thought was not only hilarious but effective. There's this vacant office space in &lt;big style="font-weight: bold; color: #990000;"&gt;Tucson, Arizona&lt;/big&gt; that &lt;a href="http://twitter.com/#%21/LonelyOffice" target="_blank"&gt;tweets&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="http://alonelyoffice.com/" target="_blank"&gt;blogs&lt;/a&gt; and has a &lt;a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/A-Lonely-Office/209859095714002?sk=info" target="_blank"&gt;Facebook Fan Page&lt;/a&gt;. &amp;nbsp;Seriously!&lt;br&gt; &lt;/big&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Lawyers do it. Musicians do it all the time. What am I talking about?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt;Cross-marketing! &amp;nbsp;Cross-marketing, in this instance, is marketing yourself across several social media platforms in an effort to ensure that your connections can connect with you on any social media platform - and then to use it to your advantage.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.facebook.com/renae.m4r%20" title="Friend Me On Facebook!" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;img title="facebook" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/1/5/1/8/3/ar1304658338151.jpg" height="71" alt="facebook" width="130" style="float: right;"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;The question is, how does one implement social media marketing across platforms? It's really quite simple! If you have a profile set up on Facebook and have fans there, invite them to connect with you on LinkedIn. The connections you have on LinkedIn should be invited to join you on MySpace. Your MySpace circle should be invited to follow your stream on Twitter. And they all should be invited to subscribe to your blog's RSS feed!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/renaebolton" title="Connect With Me On LinkedIn!" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;img title="linkedin" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/6/7/8/9/9/ar130465864299876.gif" height="34" alt="linkedin" width="125" style="float: left;"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;There are many ways to do this. You can:&lt;br&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;big&gt;put an active hyperlink to each of your profiles on everything you write.&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;big&gt;use social media logos everywhere that are linked to your profiles&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;big&gt;set up a "find me" webpage that lists all of the ways people can connect with you&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;big&gt;set up a cool toolbar that will easily allow people to connect with you - my newest favorite is &lt;a href="http://www.wibiya.com" target="_blank"&gt;Wibiya&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;big&gt;Make sure those you are connected with are able to connect with you on multiple platforms! What in the world is she talking about?" Let me explain!&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;img title="twitter" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/8/5/1/7/9/ar130452966797158.gif" height="50" alt="twitter" width="150" style="float: left;"&gt;For everyone who has set up a &lt;span style="color: #cc0000;"&gt;Facebook&lt;/span&gt; Fan page, or a &lt;span style="color: #cc0000;"&gt;Twitter&lt;/span&gt; or &lt;span style="color: #cc0000;"&gt;LinkedIn&lt;/span&gt; account, the first thing you did was to start requesting &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #993399;"&gt;connections&lt;/span&gt; - you wanted people to &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #993399;"&gt;friend you, connect with you, or fan your page&lt;/span&gt;. (&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;And if you didn't, my first suggestion is to stop reading this, go connect to at least 10 people on each site, and then come back to finish reading this post!&lt;/span&gt;) Ask yourself this question: why do I want to have people connected to me? The answer is simply &lt;img title="linkedin" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/4/6/4/9/1/ar130452971719464.png" height="83" alt="linkedin" width="108" style="float: right;"&gt;because you want those people to "opt in" to receiving your news stream! They are now directly connected and requesting information about real estate in and around your area. Or, if you're like my friend from &lt;a href="http://activerain.com/blogs/recr" target="_blank"&gt;Real Estate Client Referrals&lt;/a&gt; - &lt;a href="https://twitter.com/#%21/TheRealClint" target="_blank"&gt;@ClintMiller&lt;/a&gt;, you're not following him for his real estate information (although it is quality stuff). You're following him because you just don't know what he's going to say next and you're waiting on baited breath to see what it will be!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;img title="facebook" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/4/6/5/4/3/ar130452976434564.png" height="93" alt="facebook" width="140" style="float: left;"&gt;This support will be even more unwavering if you &lt;big style="color: #cc0000;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;fan your fans&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/big&gt;. Support those people who are supporting you. How? By engaging them! It isn't just about "how many people can I &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #993399;"&gt;connect&lt;/span&gt; with?!" It's about how you can make those &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #993399;"&gt;connections&lt;/span&gt; mean something! Your &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #993399;"&gt;connections&lt;/span&gt; should be two-way streets - you aren't just sending them information about you but you are receiving information about them as well. Then, when you retweet or repost what they've said, and it's something specifically local, you'll start &lt;a href="http://activerain.com/blogsview/2277696/30-days-of-marketing-opportunities-day-16-put-localism-blogs-to-work-for-you" target="_blank"&gt;making local blogs work for you&lt;/a&gt; (yesterday's post). &lt;li&gt;&lt;big&gt;your blog becomes a hub for inforamtion about your local area&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;big&gt;you become a local expert in the real sense of the word (a person who has special skill or knowledge in a particular field or area)&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

Now, the goal is to continue providing marketing motivation for you! &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #3333ff;"&gt;30 Days of Marketing Opportunities&lt;/span&gt; will give you 30 projects or tasks that your Virtual Assistant can handle on your behalf, generating leads that will ultimately generate more income for you!&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt; &amp;nbsp;These are tasks that do not require a lot of high-end skill but, instead, require some time (hence the reason your Virtual Assistant should handle these tasks, not &lt;span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"&gt;you&lt;/span&gt;!)&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt; and attention to detail&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt;. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt;Join me on the journey!&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;big style="color: #cc0000;"&gt;Day 9 - Host a Coloring Contest&lt;/big&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt;Pick a farm area and send out flyers and postcards that you are hosting a &lt;span style="color: #cc33cc;"&gt;coloring contest&lt;/span&gt; for children ages 15 and under. &amp;nbsp;Be sure to have your age categories set (for &lt;img title="child coloring" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/8/2/5/1/6/ar130247975361528.gif" height="106" alt="child coloring" width="100" style="float: left;"&gt;example 12-15, 9-11, 6-8, and 5 and under). &amp;nbsp;Additionally, put&amp;nbsp;up a page on your website to promote the &lt;span style="color: #cc33cc;"&gt;coloring contest&lt;/span&gt;. &amp;nbsp;You should also be able to advertise the &lt;span style="color: #cc33cc;"&gt;coloring contest&lt;/span&gt; in your local newspaper either free of charge or at a discount if you make the newspaper a sponsor of the contest. &amp;nbsp;Prizes can be secured from companies at no additional cost to you through a mutual agreement with the company. &amp;nbsp;For example, gift cards to Build-A-Bear, a local toy &lt;img title="child coloring" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/2/7/0/5/8/ar13024798285072.jpg" height="79" alt="child coloring" width="125" style="float: right;"&gt;store, and/or a department store (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.). &amp;nbsp;The key here is to also get gifts for the parents of the winning children! &amp;nbsp;Home improvement stores, department stores, grocery stores, etc. will all work!&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;As "sponsors" of the &lt;span style="color: #cc33cc;"&gt;coloring contest&lt;/span&gt;, with free advertising on your website, most companies will be happy to donate prizes!&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

One of the best ways to do that is to become the "go-to" person for that community. &amp;nbsp;By creating a &lt;span style="color: #cc33cc;"&gt;community website&lt;/span&gt;, you can become the "IT" website owner for that area.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;img title="community" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/8/5/0/0/3/ar130247934030058.jpg" height="157" alt="community" width="150" style="float: left;"&gt;Your &lt;span style="color: #cc33cc;"&gt;community website&lt;/span&gt; can include upcoming events in the community, important dates to remember (such as the first day of school, no school, city council meetings, etc.), highlights of the community, condo association information, virtual tours of available properties in the area, listings of available properties only in that area, and information about your preferred home staging company and mortgage lending partner. &amp;nbsp;Have a community newsletter with information about both old and new businesses in the area and also with relevant&amp;nbsp;news on your &lt;span style="color: #cc33cc;"&gt;community website&lt;/span&gt;. On Facebook, upload photos of the listing into a separate photo album. &amp;nbsp;Be sure you have your seller in your contact list and then tag them in the photo album. &amp;nbsp;Make comments on the album about the different rooms to entice your Facebook friends to look at the photo album as well.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;span style="color: #000000;"&gt;Set up groups on Facebook and LinkedIn that are specific. &amp;nbsp;You don't want groups named "Real Estate in Tampa." &amp;nbsp;You want groups that people will be able to co&lt;img title="linkedin" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/4/6/5/6/1/ar130246973116564.gif" height="34" alt="linkedin" width="125" style="float: right;"&gt;nnect with. &amp;nbsp;Try "I Want A Condo On Long Island" or "My Dream Home is a Luxury Home on the River in Michigan."&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Your groups should be something that the person joining can really identify with. &amp;nbsp;Then, when you have a new listing, you can post about it to the appropriate group and know that everyone who sees that information are your &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;real&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt; target audience.&amp;nbsp;Don't forget photos on LinkedIn as well!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt;If you haven't already done so,
choose an
area to farm and then develop a plan for marketing to that farm.
&amp;nbsp;Farming an area is extremely beneficial. &amp;nbsp;Some of
the
benefits include:&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
*&amp;nbsp;The residents of that area get to know you more than other
agents. &lt;br&gt;
* You will learn so much about that area as you get to know the
intricacies of that neighborhood.&lt;br&gt;
* You can then blog about the neighborhood as the "area specialist" and
watch your blog shoot to the top of the Google search engine!&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
&lt;/big&gt;&lt;big&gt;So,
how do you go about choosing and making the most marketing use of a
farm area? Here are a few steps to help you off to a great start:&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
&lt;/big&gt;
&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;"&gt;Select&lt;/span&gt;
- The area you select should either be one that you are already
somewhat familiar with or one that you feel relatively confident that
you can learn about quickly and easily.&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;"&gt;Research&lt;/span&gt;
- Learn everything you can about the area. &amp;nbsp;Learn about the
market, what's selling, what isn't, what the homes are like, what the
community is like, what the residents are like. &amp;nbsp;The goal is
to set yourself up as the area expert.&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;"&gt;Market&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;-
Create a campaign to market to your farm area. Decide in advance how

There is a great video here that will explain how to best use this tool.&amp;nbsp; I have used this successfully for my clients and it is truly amazing.&amp;nbsp; You can use it for both the exterior  and interior of a home.&amp;nbsp; I truly urge you to try it out because it is really helpful.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;You may also went to check out another tool from Sherwin Williams, the &lt;a href="http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/paint_colors/paint_color_palette/colorsnap/" title="ColorSnap for iPhone" target="_blank"&gt;ColorSnap for iPhone and Blackberry&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;.&amp;nbsp;  Use your phone to snap a picture of a color that inspires you.&amp;nbsp; Not  only will Sherwin Williams help you match that exact color, this app  will help you fine tune it using lightness, saturation, and hue  features.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>You Want to Pay Me How Much to do WHAT?</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;big style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;You Want to Pay Me How Much to do WHAT?&lt;/big&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;img title="blow me away" src="http://www.101fairylane.com/images/2007/07/12/wind_blowing_lemondrop_2.jpg" height="141" alt="blow me away" width="197" style="float: right;"&gt;Recently, I was told that it might be a good idea for me to sign up on a certain online forum to bid on projects posted for Virtual Assistants. (Company name held to protect the not-so-innocent.) I thought it was a great idea. &lt;big&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #cc0000;"&gt;What I found blew me away!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;br style="font-weight: bold; color: #cc0000;"&gt;&lt;br&gt;After setting up an online profile and taking numerous online tests to declare that &lt;big style="color: #009900;"&gt;I knew what I said I knew&lt;/big&gt;, I started browsing through the posted projects on the jobs board. &amp;nbsp;What I found in the real estate section, posted for a Real Estate Virtual Assistant was something similar to this:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div style="margin-left: 40px;"&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;span style="color: #3333ff;"&gt;Duties include phone support and data entry. You will need to answer incoming calls, schedule appointments and showings and follow up from showings and appointments. You will need to enter all activities into our contact management system and you will learn to do other data entry tasks including uploading listing details onto websites and offer writing. Must reside within the U.S. Weekend availability a MUST.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;br&gt;That part was actually typical for what a real estate agent would need a Virtual Assistant to handle for them.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;big style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Here was the Zinger! &amp;nbsp; &lt;big&gt;&lt;span style="color: #cc0000;"&gt;Hourly Rate: &amp;nbsp;Below $3.00/hr&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Um, huh? &amp;nbsp;I think I read that wrong. &amp;nbsp;Hang out here while I go check that one more time. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #999900;"&gt;&amp;lt;play Jeopardy music in your head here while you wait&amp;gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Ok, yep. Below $3.00/hr.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;img title="cheap" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QkqjVH7DFSI/Sgr0A-K8xRI/AAAAAAAAAu0/bL1ABqRzmH0/s320/fast-good-cheap.gif" height="128" alt="cheap" width="146" style="float: left;"&gt;What Virtual Assistant &lt;big style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;living in the United States and in their RIGHT MIND&lt;/big&gt; would be able to afford to charge less than $3.00/hr to work for this "busy real estate company?" &amp;nbsp;And to top it off, they wanted someone to &lt;big&gt;work 30+ hrs/wk&lt;/big&gt;. &amp;nbsp;That's almost full time. &amp;nbsp;Again, who in their right mind could afford that? &amp;nbsp;If you live in the United States and work full or almost full-time and don't even make minimum wage, &lt;big style="color: #cc0000;"&gt;there's a problem, don't you think?&lt;/big&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;big style="color: #339999; font-weight: bold;"&gt;Here's what I'd like real estate professionals to know from the point of view of the REVA:&lt;/big&gt;&lt;br&gt;1. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #cc0000;"&gt;You get what you pay for!&lt;/span&gt; &amp;nbsp;This is not to say that you have to pay $100/hr for a Virtual Assistant. But if you ask someone to work for pennies and give you a high quality level of work, &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;something is going to suffer&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br&gt;2. If &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #cc0000;"&gt;you expect to get paid for&lt;/span&gt; the &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #cc0000;"&gt;quality work&lt;/span&gt; you do, you should expect to &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #cc0000;"&gt;pay your REVA the same way&lt;/span&gt;. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Quality is quality&lt;/span&gt;, regardless of where it's coming from.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;big&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #339999;"&gt;Here's what I'd like REVAs to know from one REVA to another:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;br&gt;1. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #cc0000;"&gt;Value yourself.&lt;/span&gt; &amp;nbsp;If you don't value yourself, your time, your skills - no one else will, either.&lt;br&gt;2. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: #cc0000;"&gt;Don't get caught in the rat race of "the lowest bidder wins."&lt;/span&gt; &amp;nbsp;You'll end up getting contracts that you have absolutely no desire to complete and then who will suffer? &amp;nbsp;Well, the client for one because you'll always put their work on the back burner. &amp;nbsp;And then, so will your reputation. &amp;nbsp;Which is extremely difficult to get back once lost.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I'm just sayin.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/big&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
