penticton: The right Real Estate agent (or not) - Summerland & Penticton BC -Raymond MAASKE - 11/14/10 01:50 AM
The right Real Estate agent (or not) - Summerland & Penticton BC What is the best way to find an agent and know that he or she is the right one for you? Good question. For starters, let’s look at how buyers find agents much of the time. They’re scanning the paper or surfing the Internet and spot an ad that interest them … or they see a For Sale sign in the piano teacher’s neighbourhood … so they pick up the phone and call the agent representing the listed property and its owner. They make an appointment to view the … (0 comments)

Buyer’s Remorse -  Summerland, Penticton, Okanagan, BC - Real Estate and Homes for Sale - Home Star Realty - Raymond MAASKE

It’s the feeling you get, after having an offer accepted, that you made a big mistake and are now somehow stuck with a home you no longer want. This is such a common occurrence that the term, “Buyer’s Remorse” is widely used.
One of the best ways to combat this feeling is to … (0 comments)

Harmonized Sales Tax - HOW IT APPLIES TO SUMMERLAND, PENTICTON, OKANAGAN, BC - RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE

GENERAL DISCUSSION On July 23, 2009, British Columbia announced its plans to implement a Harmonized Sales Tax (“H.S.T.”) for B.C. effective July 1, 2010. For consumers, goods and services (with some exceptions) will be subject to the H.S.T. in the same manner as they are currently subject to GST. This applies to real estate … (0 comments)

Canada's Housing buy/rent ratio shows real estate ‘vulnerable’ Michael Babad
These are stories Report on Business is following today.
What the buy/rent measure shows A buy/rent measure of Canadian real estate shows Canada's housing market is "vulnerable" to higher mortgage rates, Desjardins Securities says.
Canadian house prices have rebounded markedly from the depths of the recession, hitting a fresh record in may and bringing the buy/rent ratio to about 1.85x. That means that, even excluding major factors such as taxes and maintenance, homeowners pay about twice what renters pay.

penticton: Okanagan Real Estate - Home sales rebound, but it won't last long, analyst says - 09/16/10 03:47 AM
Home sales rebound, but it won't last long, analyst says    By Garry Marr, Financial Post September 16, 2010     Existing home sales in Canada rebounded in August, but the industry consensus is both prices and activity will decline the rest of this year. The only argument is by how much.
The Canadian Real Estate Association reported yesterday that August sales were up 4.1% on a seasonally adjusted basis from July -- a bad month for home sales because of the effects of the harmonized sales tax implementation in Ontario and British Columbia. As consumers scrambled to make their … (0 comments)
