Warren Bernard runs to say goodbye to his father Jack Bernard in New Westminster in 1940. The photo, which appeared in many international magazines, is probably the most famous Canadian war photograph. The Bernard family lived in Summerland.

Thank you Summerland for helping us find our friend’s dog - Doodle.
We had agreed to dog sit a little dog while friends went on holidays only to have it dart away from us and our home. We spent hours searching our neighborhoods. Hours turned into days and days turned into weeks. We had tremendous support from everyone from Rose at Dog Control to supportive neighbors that drove for hours calling and looking for Doodle.

What real estate slowdown?
A 29-acre waterfront super-estate has just sold in Kelowna for $10 million.
“It‘s good news, really good news,” said Gary August of Coldwell Banker Realty, who co-listed the property with realtor Jane Hoffman.
“It shows that Kelowna is still a desirable real estate market and wealthy people are more than willing to invest here.”
At $10 million, 5880 Lakeshore Rd. is the most expensive single-family home to ever sell in the Central Okanagan.
The record was previously held by the lakefront mansion at 1499 Pritchard Dr. in West Kelowna that sold in early 2008 for $7.4 million.
