michigan: A Funny Thing Happened On My Way To The Windfarm..... - 07/01/10 01:34 AM
I had a wonderful thing happen to me this year.
I was hired as adjunct faculty by the forward thinking Grand Rapids Community College to teach Wind Energy Technology. I am always looking to broaden my horizons...and this experience has broadened my horizons far more than I thought possible.

First of all, I never thought I would make front page news...boy was I surprised and my Daddy was proud to see me on the front page of anything, especially The Collegiate!
And then they started calling me Professor! of all things!
Imagine THAT!

All kidding aside, … (9 comments)

Ah...a cozy 76 degrees F inside staving off a 7.6 degree F temp outside!!!

For the most part, Christine seems to have a mind of her own. Wanting to make her happy … (43 comments)

michigan: As the Green Tide Rises....Green is RED HOT Contest!!! - 03/11/08 10:49 PM

"A Rising Tide Raises All Boats."
This is a very powerful quote I read yesterday as the opening statement in a unique business philosophy. I read it again today. Tonight, I choose to share it with you and invite you to share my musing...ponder the statement in the context of the industry we share, promote and embrace.
"A Rising Tide Raises All Boats."
I learned many years ago in my U.S. Power Squadrons classes that Michigan does not have to contend with tidal waters. Michigan has 1,500 miles of navigable river or streams, more than 11,000 inland lakes and 3,200 miles of Great Lakes shoreline make … (34 comments)

michigan: Transformation In Michigan - Spotlight...the little LumberYard that Could! - 11/02/07 07:05 PM
Transformation....
    from Wikipedia....
Transformation (root transform) may refer to: Transformation is also referred to as a turn.
Have you ever been a part of or truly seen a transformation?
Transforming is
        ....altering
               ....changing
                        mutating...
So many companies  these days, are Transforming.
Their transformations are not always for the good of their employees...
Electrolux, in Michigan, transformed to a company of P & L...rather than investing in their Michigan employees, they moved operations to Mexico...leaving the town of Greenville, Michigan also transformed....
THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT!!!!

michigan: Twilight or Dawn? The day that was or the day to come...you decide..... - 10/28/07 09:06 PM
Sometimes you just have to repost...to re-read...to remember...
to get back in the groove....
I don't know if the words were as pretty as the pictures, but here are some exceptionally beautiful moments I captured in Michigan...a couple of moons ago....

Please...enjoy and rejoy!

As I stand on the balcony I see the faint light of something off in the distance.
It is barely visible to my eye, yet it exists and it is there... It HAS to be! My camera caught it!

michigan: The Winds Of Change - 10/21/07 01:05 PM
Last Thursday, October 19, 2007 much of the midwest was taken by storms. The storms took 3 lives in Michigan.  My sympathies to the families in Michigan and elsewhere around the country who were affected by these storm systems.
As these storms rolled through our area I found them prophetic.
Thursday was the eve of a major change for me. A very exciting new journey and a new pathway for me was just beginning ...
I have to give some credit for my new pathway to The Secret....
I have been a fan of "The Secret"  since watching the DVD which was gifted … (26 comments)

School is back in session ... slow down and watch for children and busses!
(photo from http://user.mc.net/~hyden/graphics6.html)
WOW! It's amazing to think September is here already. The Summer of 2007 is "officially" over now that labor day has passed and school is back in session. While I contemplate this I also think of the many exciting experiences I had this summer that were work related and helped me grow professionally.
The Michigan Energy Fair put on by the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association kick started my summer.
At the Fair I was immersed in the latest technologies available for sustainable and green building. Solar power, … (9 comments)

michigan: Saving Lake Michigan - Thanks Active Rain - Small Progress!! - 08/25/07 09:26 AM
Together we have made one small step in sending a message to BP and keeping our waters clean! Thank you Eric Hughes for keeping me up to date on the issue! Eric sent me a link to Prarie Mod Blog which reports that BP Americas has announced they will not increase dumping into Lake Michigan and that they are going to maintain dumping levels where they have always operated.
Below is a portion of an email sent from Rebecca D. Stanfield, Environment Illinois State Director dated Aug 15, 2007:

michigan: Do You Love A Good Fairy Tale??? - 08/25/07 08:32 AM
       Am I just like you?
Did you love Fairy Tales and Fables when you were growing up?
I remember buying an Aesop's Fable book when my son was born! I was so excited to bring the stories to him that I had grown up with. I still have that treasured hard cover book in my library. I'm saving it for my grandchildren I suppose!
Do you remember the story of
               Rapunzel?
I stumbled upon this tower while driving through Leelanau County Michigan a few weeks ago. Seeing the tower brought back very fond memories of childhood!!!
How I wish I had time that day … (41 comments)

michigan: MICHIGAN - Come Here To Sail -- or Participate In Our Sale!!!! UPDATED - 08/22/07 11:06 PM
I don't have any answers in this blog. Just entertain me if you will!
Is Michigan's glass half empty or half full??
Can we discuss it over a glass of wine? (or a soda, if you so choose?)
I really don't have much to say. I'm just writing on the off chance that someone out there will listen and give me some feedback.
Everyday when I talk to lenders I hear, "you're in Michigan?" Their tone makes me think the plague has hit MICHIGAN and I am running out of time.

Michigan, thanks to mainstream media, is being viewed as a quagmire … (24 comments)

michigan: What Is This FULL DOC Thing Everyone Is Talking About??? - 08/07/07 12:06 AM
What we are hearing throughout the lending and real estate industry that as this spilt milk gets cleaned up lenders and GSE’s (Aunt Fannie and Uncle Freddie) are tightening their guidelines. One of the brawniest ideas I have heard is that we need to increase the number of loans we are processing and increase the full document loans.
In every business we pick up acronyms and expect others know what we are talking about. I occured to me not everyone knows what a “full doc” loan is?
For those of you that don’t…here is a synopsis

michigan: Originators -- YOUR Global Positioning System - 08/06/07 10:30 PM

Many cars today come equipped with a GPS - Global Positioning System.
If your car is not you can purchase one for under $100. Today's GPS's are quite accurate. Garmin, one of the big names, claims their receivers are accurate to within 15 meters.
This spring we were using our GPS for the first time to take us on the long trip from Michigan to New Jersey. The further we drove east, the more I likened the GPS navigation system to the loan originator and the loan process.
As we started our trip, all packed … (8 comments)
