mackinaw city: Living in Michigan's Upper Penninsula at the Straits of Mackinac - 08/14/07 06:12 AM

So many people seem to be curious about the people and lifestyle of Northern Michigan and more specific, the Eastern Upper Peninsula and Great Lakes region. Yes, they call us "Yoopers". Once a Detroit girl, I got transplanted to the U.P. as a teenager. If anyone knows Michigan, that's 300 miles straight north and at the time, quite the culture shock. Now I LOVE this small waterfront community and because in my travels, many people don't know where we're located, I thought I'd just jump in to this Active Rain Community and share information about our area, market and in general and see what … (2 comments)
