The Wisconsin Depatment of Tourism will be sponsoring the 2008 Governor's Conference on Tourism, to be held at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
This year's conference will feature lectures and presentations, plus networking opportunities and educational breakout sessions. This year's sponsors include the Chicago Tribune, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, The Saint Paul Pioneer Press and TwinCities.com, Midwest Living Magazine, Fox Cities Convention & Visitors' Bureau and the Wisconsin Winery Association.

The renowned 2007 Bayfield Apple Festival runs October 5-7, 2007 in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Bayfield is located on Highway 13, about 79 miles east of Superior, Wisconsin.
This year's events will include a Venetian Boat Parade with music by the Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay, an Apostle Islands Grand Tour cruise, live music by Big Top Chautauqua entertainers, the annual Apple Festival Parade, carnival rides, dozens and dozens of food vendors (featuring just about every apple-related treat you could imagine) and more.

chicago tribune: Ten Years Later, Bayfield, Wisconsin is Still the "Best Little Town in the Midwest"!

Back in 1997, Alan Solomon, travel writer with the Chicago Tribune, declared Bayfield Wisconsin (on Lake Superior) to be the "Best Little Town in the Midwest". And after a recent visit to Bayfield in the Summer of 2007, Solomon has written that Bayfield "is still as special today as it was in 1997".
Solomon notes a number of reasons for his high praise of Bayfield. His 1997 article praised the fact that there are no traffic lights, no billboards or huge neon signs, no "chain" discount stores in the entire county. Solomon refers to Bayfield and the Apostle Islands, including Madeline Island, as "paradise".
