This evening, I was delighted to receive a call from a fellow who was interested in purchasing one of our listings. Unfortunately, he was attempting to call from a cellphone from downtown LaPointe, on Madeline Island.
Our Island has poor cellular service that is almost legendary. Unless you have Alltel local service (from Chequamegon Telephone Cooperative on the nearby mainland) or your cellular carrier is AT & T, you can expect to have problems using your cellphone on Madeline Island.

Gasoline prices have reached the $4.25 mark on Madeline Island.
The price of 87-octane unleaded regular gasoline at the pump next to the Madeline Island Marina & Yacht Club, in La Pointe, Wisconsin, reached $4.25 over Memorial Day weekend.
Boat fuel at the Marina is expected to approach five dollars per gallon when summer arrives. It's too early to determine whether or not high prices will have a significant impact on recreational boating in the Apostle Islands region.

madeline island yacht club: Trading Places - How Do You Swap a Stay at Your Cabin or Condo For a Change of Scenery? - 04/12/08 08:33 PM
The first time I came across this concept, I was looking at the community bulletin board at the Madeline Island Yacht Club. There was a note card pinned to the board that read "want to trade two weeks aboard our yacht in the Canary Islands for a two-week stay at a Madeline Island cabin".
The whole thing sounded very appealing! Attached to the note card was a photo of a forty-something foot sailboat, anchored at a nice-looking marina in an area that was obviously tropical. There was a list of amenities aboard the boat (full galley, fore and aft cabins with … (2 comments)
