Gail Robinson has written a superb post, reminding us all that Google search results are not always accurate, as they are skewed by the user's history of past searches. Gail also provides some valuable information about using StartPage.com, and in her comments she writes about using the Incognito function available on Google Chrome to gather accurate information about search rankings. It's a bit chilly here tonight. The temperature right now is 49 degrees. The sky is clear and a low of 37 to 42 is predicted for tonight. Today it seemed like tourists switched suddenly from t-shirts and shorts to thick sweaters and fall jackets. A couple of guys walked into my real estate office this afternoon looking for firewood for their campsite at the State Park. We chatted briefly about real estate prices and they took a brochure and business card with them. Tonight I'm tapping this out on my laptop in the car, at a wayside rest stop on the east end of Superior, Wisconsin. It's about 4:45 a.m. and I drove up here from Minneapolis late last evening, a trip of about 160 miles. I'm on my way to Port Wing to show one of my listings there, a $1,150,000 log home on Lake Superior. Thanks to the "miracle of technology" (a small wireless modem that plugs into a USB port in my laptop), I'm able to get on the Web anywhere I can get a cellphone signal. The ice is out on the south shore of Lake Superior. The deer are running the roads and foraging on the roadsides. Spring has arrived in northwestern Wisconsin. I was in the area Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Duluth-Superior area and northwestern Wisconsin experienced continuous heavy rains and high wind. Visibility on Highway 2 going into Wisconsin was near zero at times. Yesterday was completely different. Other than the fact that it was windy, the sky was clear and sunny. Temperatures were in the low 50s. Signs of spring were everywhere.
