Palmetto Bay Dog Park Finally Opened! - 11/30/07 06:03 AM
After two years of waiting, the doggie park in Palmetto Bay finally opened on Saturday, Nov. 17th.
We stopped by in the afternoon and there were quite a few people there with their four-legged friends.
It was nice to see that the pooches could run around freely. There's a lake in the center of the park where they can swim if they want to. There's also penned areas for small dogs and large dogs to play in, respectively.  This is real nice for the smaller dogs who may not be too keen about having monster big dogs chasing them around the … (27 comments)

Moo And Save $20!! - 11/28/07 04:11 PM
No pictures.  No Bells.  No Whistles.  Just savings!!
I just read Sarah Cooper's post about Mini Moo cards.  She turned me on to them too.  I have placed my order for 1000 and will report later as to exactly what I will do with them.
But for right now, I wanted to let everyone know of a free promo code you can use to get a free pack of Moo cards.  Buy two get one free.  A $20 savings.  Heck, I was ordering 5 packs at full price but this is sweeter!
I am always thrifty.  So I googled "Moo Cards … (26 comments)

Palmetto Bay Homes For Sale Clarification - 11/27/07 07:30 AM
I read this nbc6.net article the other day and can go along with most of what’s being said. I have to take issue with one small item there though. Zip code 33157 is touted as being Palmetto Bay and while a part of Palmetto Bay is certainly in zip code 33157, 33157 also encompasses parts of Cutler Bay as well as Miami.
This minor detail will make a difference in the way Palmetto Bay listings are viewed. The article states that there are 758 listings in 33157 which is Palmetto Bay. While there are 758 listings in 33157, only 197 of … (3 comments)

If The Shoe Fits... - 11/26/07 09:27 AM

Another funny from Walt Handelsman.  There is no embed code so you'll have to click on the graphic to visit the site and watch it over there.  Sorry!
While I am technically a baby boomer, I never got high and the hippies were about 10 years before my time.  Still, I can appreciate the humor in this one.

Success, But At What Cost? - 11/24/07 07:08 PM
I just read a post of John Novak's that got me thinking.  Off I went to click on his links and read some more.  His post is about the top selling agents in real estate.  It's an eye-opener.  Take a detour and check it out.  I'll wait.
The post is eye-opening because the volume these agents have done is beyond huge.  It's ginormous! The top selling agent, Dolly Lenz, sold $748,319,000.  That's for the year, not a lifetime.  Quite the impressive number, don't you think?  Ms. Lenz states that depending on whether one of her deals in escrow closes in December … (114 comments)

The Rain Splashes Again - 11/20/07 05:17 AM
Have you noticed the latest improvement to the Rain?
When you click on "email me" on someone's profile, your "handle" fills in and so does your email address.  In the past, we had to fill these in ourselves.
Way to go Active Rain!  I love how you're forever tweaking things to make improvements.
Even the little ones excite me.  Thanks.

Redland Real Estate Auction - Going, Going, Still Here! - 11/18/07 03:55 AM
Are you trying to sell your Redland home in this market? Have you looked at alternative methods of selling your home? Have you looked at real estate auctions?
Real estate auctions can be very successful. And they can be total flops too. Last week I attended the latter at a gorgeous home in the Redland.
The home had been appraised at $900,000 back in June. My trained eye tells me the market value is more like $750K today. Was it an inflated appraisal back in June? Maybe just a little. No matter. The appraisal wasn’t an issue. The bids were.
I … (12 comments)

Help With Postlets HTML Code - 11/15/07 09:57 AM
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to resize the Postlets flyer to make it smaller?  I tried pasting the code as is into my outside blog and it's huge. It goes right off the page.
I tried changing some of the numbers in the code but none worked.  I don't know enough html to fix this.  Can anyone help?  Thanks!

Do Minor Repairs And Save A Deal - 11/13/07 01:49 PM
Selling real estate in the Redland and the rest of Miami-Dade county, I have seen lots of things happen.  One thing I’ve seen happen (and it’s never pretty) is seeing a deal fall apart after inspections.
An inspection during the home buying process almost always generates reasons to renegotiate the contract.  But it can also offer the buyer a clean way to make his getaway if he’s having second thoughts.
How is this possible?  Let me explain.  When a buyer makes an offer on a house, the contract has a place where a repair limit is specified.  A repair limit means the … (13 comments)

Resting In The Redland - 11/12/07 08:19 AM
Sunday was a glorious day in the Redland. The air was crisp with the coming fall (at least for an hour or two it was LOL). The sun was shining. A gentle breeze was blowing. I sat on my porch late afternoon and took a snooze.  Well, as much of a snooze as my two cats will let me take.  The dogs were busy inside barking as well.  It didn’t take a lot of effort on my part to ignore them =) Days like that one make me glad I moved to the Redland. Selling real estate in Miami isn’t terribly … (10 comments)

Robert Is Still In The Redland - 11/07/07 08:17 AM
Living in the Redland I have plenty of fruit trees in my yard.  Try as I might, I can’t have all the fruit that’s out there though.  We sometimes go elsewhere to get our fruit fix!
I drove over to Robert Is Here yesterday afternoon.  The kid’s been wanting to try a dragonfruit and we figured they’d have it.  We were right.
Robert Is Here has been there for about 47 years now.  The story goes that when Robert was a boy and trying to sell cucumbers on the corner no one stopped at his stand.  Robert’s father decided he needed … (15 comments)

Miracles Still Happen In Real Estate - 11/05/07 01:58 PM
For many, many years, Celia had been praying for a home of her own.  Her life had not been an easy one.  But now she had a good job with the church.  She was making good money and was involved in something that touched her heart...a homeless ministry.
She had stopped praying about the home after a few failed attempts to find something affordable.  The Miami market was not one where a single woman could easily qualify due to the high home home prices.  She believes that God answers prayers in his time and accepted that the one for a house … (25 comments)

Above All - 11/04/07 06:03 AM

I've been a Christian pretty much my whole life. But having been born in Cuba, where people are not allowed to worship, I didn't attend church as a child. When we moved to the US it wasn't natural for me to go to church and I didn't.
It was only as I grew and life started throwing me curve balls that I started looking into what my faith meant to me. I started searching for answers. I started studying the bible. I started attending church. I was learning about my God, His grace and His mercy. Although I had been born into … (27 comments)

What Time Is It?? - 11/04/07 03:08 AM
Can anyone help me?  I know this is the first year that DST clock-changing weekends were moved.  It should have taken place a couple of hours ago, I guess (for me on the East Coast anyway).
I have no idea what time it is right now!  My laptop says 4:03.  My cellphone says 2:03.  A two hour difference!  HUH???????
The clocks in the house are all flashing (we live in an area where a heavy rain will just throw off the electricity for a few seconds and we have to reset them all then.
I am completely lost as to what … (12 comments)
