A Busy Summer

I'm back for more......

Well, business had picked up a little, and something had to give. I had to admit I had become a little too addicted to Active Rain and it was taking up too much time. I was also dwelling on some of the negative encounters here, and not focusing on the positive. I had forgotton why I came in the first place. To meet friends, vent, learn, and hopefully increase my business. After a period of withdrawal, I was back to a normal life again.

But then it happened. I checked my google rankings. To my complete surprise, I was back to page 2. I was pretty shocked that there would be such a change in a short period of time.

So, here I am again. Back for more and looking forward to talking to some old friends and meeting some new. Meeting, learning, sharing. Now I remember! I missed you guys........

Another Winter Mess - Realtors take note!

My brother in law has a listing in the NW Suburbs. Another agent called to let him know that when she went to show the house, water was poring out the front door. He rushed to the house to discover one foot of ice on the ground level of the home, with water coming out of the ceiling and down the stairs from the 2nd level. The whole interior of the home was destroyed. The estimates so far for the damages are exceeding $100K and climbing.

I'm posting this as a head's up to those of you that have winterized properties, or empty properties with the heat on. This property was empty, as the owner had already moved. The heat was left on at 62 degrees. Unfortunately, this was not warm enough to keep the pipes on the exterior walls from freezing. This home was completely destroyed in two days.

Just a little warning everyone. Keep warm!

I posted a blog last night explaining the benefits of using Virtual Tours from my company. I checked my email this morning and found a comment on my blog from a competitor. Now, I have no problem with competition checking out my blog and website. I do the same, it keeps me up on what others are offering. But this comment was posted evidently to irritate me and to direct people to his own company. I made the mistake of commenting back on one of his blogs and now I feel bad.

I have enjoyed Active Rain so much. I have formed some great relationships and learned a ton of information. This was the first time someone actually attacked one of my blogs and I wasn't ready for it.

Now I am. With my delete button at the ready, I'm off to his blog again. He can have his bad attitude and his ethics. I'll keep mine.

Update on "Agents I need your help and suggestions".....

Some of you may have read my post discussing my nightmare when I moved into my new home. We had issues with the winterization of the home. Well, we found out yesterday that when the plumbers were here to winterize, they felt it was too late and there was already damage done. This was never disclosed to us! The agent who hired the company to do the winterization never disclosed the company's report to us. The company's report stated that several pipes were already frozen and they would not guarantee their work.

Sometimes things are just meant to be. I believe that if we had turned the water on and discovered the broken pipes, the sale would not have gone thru. We are so happy here now that I'm thankful for that.

The bottom line is this. The agent needs to acknowledge some wrongdoing here. I'm not asking for a huge sum of money but I feel an apology is in order.

I've Been Meme'd....Twice!

Well, I received the dreaded contact e-mail, not once but twice! I have been meme'd by Jeanean Gendron and Tom Bratz, both of whom wrote wonderful, exciting meme's. They might be a little sorry when they read mine. But here goes......

I come from a rather large extended family. My mother was one of twelve kids, and I have 60 first cousins. We get together often, and have a family reunion every five years at a lake in Wisconsin. We pretty much take over the town for the weekend. I think most of the locals plan their vacations around our reunions.
I'm a shower singer. There, I've said it. My father had a beautiful voice, and was the soloist at many family weddings. My brother took up the tradition and has been the lead singer in a band that has been together for 30 years. He also sang the National Anthem at a Cub's game a few years back. My singing has been kept private in the shower for years, with an occasional outburst at a karoake club. I can't help myself. I can do a pretty mean Patsy Cline after a couple of Miller Lites.
I'm a happily divorced mom with 2 great kids. They seem fairly well adjusted considering their mother is a little goofy. We're a great team, they are my pride and joy.
I was a state baton twirling champ. I refuse to say what year.
I love to bowl. I bowled my first 200 game when I was 10, and I was hooked. It's been pretty much downhill since then, but I keep trying.
