Well, business had picked up a little, and something had to give.  I had to admit I had become a little too addicted to Active Rain and it was taking up too much time.  I was also dwelling on some of the negative encounters here, and not focusing on the positive. I had forgotton why I came in the first place.  To meet friends, vent, learn, and hopefully increase my business.  After a period of withdrawal, I was back to a normal life again.

My mother suffered from dementia in her later years.  As her illness grew, I often wished people would understand that this was not the woman she had always been.  She was a wonderfully forgiving soul, loving and caring.  She was one of 12 children, a large, tight-knit family.  I read this e-mail today and thought how true it was and felt it important to share.

The older I get, the easier it is for me to acknowledge that I really don't know much.  That is, I know a little about a lot, but I'm really not an expert at anything.  That's my new challenge, to become an expert at something, to be the person that has all the answers.  At least to strive for that, because the fact is we need to continue to challenge ourselves, to continue to learn and have a passion for it.  I'm also smart enough to know that there is always someone else who knows more or does it better.  But … (17 comments)
