Our Pale Blue Dot - 12/31/11 01:08 PM
Ah, New Years, that arbitrary line in the sand is upon us. It's the time when one year flows into the next. Some of you will be out celebrating, others will be at home celebrating, some will be asleep, some will be trying to get to sleep, some will be playing World of Warcraft, while many others might not be fully aware of where they are and what they are doing when the clock strikes 12.
However and wherever you may be, have a safe and happy one, and lets all make 2012 a great year.

2011 Ending With a Bang - 12/29/11 07:37 PM
I always used to really enjoy the week in between Christmas and New Years. When I was a student it used to be a very peaceful holiday week, and even when I joined the workforce I could always find excuses not to get things done and no one really minded all that much.
2011 has been completely different. This has been the busiest week I have ever experienced in real estate. There seems a big urgency to get a lot of things done before the year ends. I'm busier than that proverbial one-legged man in an arse-kicking contest.

Merry Christmas Everybody, Remember What We are Celebrating. - 12/24/11 04:16 PM

Matthew 1:22-25So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son.And he called His name JESUS.

Revenge of the Frog - 12/22/11 04:42 PM
I'm not sure why I enjoyed this little clip so much, I have watched it a few times and I still laugh at the ending. Perhaps I just enjoy the little fellow getting his moment of revenge. Anyhow, I bet you that this frog could probably beat my high score.

Some Uses for Left Over Spam. - 12/17/11 05:16 PM
Earlier in the week I wrote a blog post about SPAM.
For those of you who didn't read it and don't feel like following the link provided (and I don't blame you in the least), it was really just a few random facts about this iconic luncheon meat. I became interested in Spam because I had (for reasons unknown even to myself) said I was bringing some to our office Christmas bash. My only real knowledge of this food was from the Monty Python Spam skit, so I thought I'd look into it a little more.
I did discover some pretty … (9 comments)

Your Christmas Feel-Good Story - 12/16/11 01:16 PM
Maybe Santa Claus isn't dead after all.
There's a phenomenon that's occuring all around the good old U.S. of A. this Christmas season that's bound to warm up the cockles of even the most jaded of real estate agents' hearts.
Apparently anonymous people are going into Kmarts all over the country and paying off the balances on people's lay-away accounts. I wasn't even aware that some stores still had lay-away accounts, it seems like such an old fashioned concept, but I suppose some people need this program to squirrel money away to buy their kids gifts for Christmas.
Anyhow, certain angels … (10 comments)

Preparing for a Shorter 2012 - 12/15/11 12:54 PM
I have been reading a lot of material lately from people who are preparing their 2012 business plans. I realize that it's important to have a plan and define my goals. If you don't have a roadmap, how will i know where I'm going blah blah blah etc. etc.
It has occured to me that 2012 is going to be a shorter year since the world is going to end on December 21st (according to the Mayans anyway - and Mayans have never been known to be wrong). This means that the last 10 days of 2012 will be a free … (10 comments)

Get Back in the Box and Think of Something New. - 12/12/11 05:27 PM
Am I the only person who has become tired of the phrase thinking outside the box?
Every time I hear someone say this phrase I want to let out a scream. It's becoming too bloody crowded outside of that box. Apparently all of us have fled the box and we are roaming around outside of the box. It's probably pretty warm and cosy inside the box.
It seems very strange to me that people who would like to express something original would use a hackneyed and overly familiar phrase to do so. In a lot of cases I suspect that people who … (10 comments)

Some Interesting Facts about SPAM - 12/09/11 06:40 PM
Spam was first introduced to the world in 1937 by the Hormel Food Corporation. I was surprised to discover that Spam is an American invention, it looks unappealing enough to have been a British culinary creation.
The name "Spam" is derived from Shoulder Pork Ham.
2007 was a big year for Spam as the 7 billionth can was sold. That is a lot of Spam. About as much as I receive in my junk mail folder in an average week.
Austin, Minnesota is known as Spamtown, as most of the Spam consumed in North America, South America and Australia is produced … (11 comments)

Thank You Belleville and Peterborough - 12/03/11 01:56 PM
I have been very fortunate to have been able to volunteer my time at a couple of different venues in the last week. It's Christmas season, and I was thankful to have the opportunity to ease my mind away from business and the more commercial aspects that this time of the year usually foists upon us.
Paul Brandt is in the middle of his Canadian tour at the moment, and last week made stops in both Peterborough and Belleville. I would have to say that Paul is probably the most popular Canadian country musician at the moment, and if you had a … (10 comments)
