The village of Stockdale is not very big, if you blink and miss the road sign you probably wouldn't know you are in a village at all. It consists of a few houses, a few farms and an an old mill.
 
Stockdale is between the town of Wooler and Frankford on Hastings County Road 5.
 
I drive through Stockdale quite a bit as Stockdale Road is a pretty nifty shortcut if you want to get from Trenton to Frankford or Stirling. There hardly ever is any traffic on Stockdale Road, and the only time I have ever been inconvenienced … (6 comments)

I'm sure that by now most of you are aware of the new social network called Pinterest . It has suddenly appeared on the social network landscape seemingly out of nowhere. There was very little fanfare building up to its launch, it was just there. Pinterest combines the words "pin" and "interest"
Pinterest is based around photography. From what I understand (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) it's a site where people can post photographs of their interests with a brief description and not much else. The village of Batawa is about three miles north of Trenton along the Trent river. It's a little bedroom community for the Trenton and Belleville areas and about 300 or so folks live there.
Batawa is the only village that I know of where one has to drive through a factory parking lot to get to it. Naturally it would be the old Bata factory that one has to drive through. Unfortunately it has proven to be too expensive to manufacture shoes in Canada, so the factory is no longer in operation. At one time this factory employed almost 2000 people, … (7 comments)

This has been a very mild winter so far, in the Quinte area we haven't had very much snow or terribly cold weather at all. While I haven't enjoyed the winter, I must say I have disliked it much less than other winters. I have only had to shovel the driveway twice so far.

 
It was actually pretty nice to wake up this morning and see some fresh snow blanketing the landscape.

The town of Glen Miller is only a couple of miles north of Trenton. It is a rather small community of approximately 500 or so people and lies on both the east and west sides of the Trent River. Glen Miller is the home of Lock #3 on the Trent Severn waterway.
The town of Glen miller has been around since the mid 19th century, it wasn't named after the popular American band leader with the similar name of Glenn Miller (although I probably would have believed it if someone had told me so).

It's Superbowl Sunday in Trenton, Ontario, and I was surprised to learn that it happens to be Superbowl Sunday all over North America as well. What a happy coincidence.

Here are the statistics for Single Family Residential Unit sales for Trenton Ontario for the month of January 2012.
34 houses were listed in January and 14 houses sold.
These numbers are not radically different from 2011.
The average selling price in January 2012 was$147, 371 .
This figure is down slightly from January 2011 when it was$148,846.
