Spring in Spring TX - 03/17/08 01:14 PM
Spring in Spring TX!I really love Spring in Spring TX. I am seeing signs of Spring approaching all over our landscape. When we moved here 11 years ago I had no idea how subtropical the region was. I had always pictured Houston as a big dirty city with refinery's everywhere. There are refinery's as I see them on the way to the bay but the area that we live in is beautiful; especially this time of the year as the Azaleas, Bradford Pears, Dogwoods are starting to bloom. I took some pictures of God's wonders and have made a real estate (27 comments)
Why I think it is important to live in an HOA in Harris or Montgomery Counties!! - 03/16/08 11:04 AM
On a regular basis I have people asking me to find them a home that is not in a homeowner's association (HOA). Usually this is someone moving here from another state and usually the area that they are moving from has zoning in affect. I am going to tell you why I think you need to live in a HOA with deed restrictions. I have lived in three different states besides Texas. I have lived in Kansas, Colorado and North Carolina. In all of those states I did not live in subdivision's that had HOA's. It was not a big deal because all three of the areas (23 comments)
Stagecoach Farms Market Report - 03/12/08 11:45 AM
Stagecoach Farms- Market Report March 2007 to March 2008!!Stagecoach Farms is located just to the north of Tomball and to the west of SH 249. Stagecoach is actually an incorporated town. The town was developed on a 19th century stagecoach route thus the name Stagecoach. The development was begun back in 1958 and back then was known as Stagecoach Farms. The new community had two small lakes Lake Apache and Lake Hardin, with two parks for the use of the residents. A civic club was started back in the 1960's. The first mayor was chosen in 1974 and the community incorporated in 1980 using (11 comments)
Life's litte twist and turns - our children in Kuwait on the same day! - 03/11/08 04:10 PM
This post really does not have anything to do with real estate it is more about life's little twist and turns. Today March 11, 2008 I find that I have both of my children in Kuwait. We moved here 11 years ago and this was the week we closed on our house 11 years ago. Had you told me then that 11 years later my children would be in Kuwait for different reasons I would have told you that you were NUTS and should probably quit smoking whatever it was you were smoking. So how do your young adult children end (25 comments)
If I had my life to live over I would burn the pink candle! - 03/08/08 10:00 PM
At the first of the year a dear neighbor found out that she had terminal pancreatic cancer and I just found out this morning that she passed away. I am writing this post in memory of my friend Charlene; my friend, neighbor, and bunko partner (we were usually going for the most losses.) When something like this happens it really makes you realize that we just don't know what tomorrow will bring. It has made me stop and think about how important it is to live our life to the fullest each day that the Lord blesses us with life. Charlene was such a role model (68 comments)
Tomball German Heritage Festival March 28-30 2008 - 03/05/08 08:00 PM
Tomball German Heritage Festival March 28-30 2008Tomball German Heritage Festival will be taking place on March 28th through the 30th. The 19th Century saw a big influx of immigrants from Germany and Austria to the Tomball area. They created a community and this is the time to come and celebrate the German heritage that flows through the area. The celebration is always held the last weekend of March and is becoming a tradition. The event will take place in the historic downtown section of Tomball, near the 200 block of Main street (FM 2920) and Market Street. The wonderful thing about (29 comments)
Pre-qualification vs. Pre-approval in today's changing mortgage market! - 03/05/08 08:57 AM
Pre-qualification vs. Pre-approval in today's changing mortgage market!I have written about pre-approval vs. pre-qualification before but with the current state of the mortgage industry I decided to write about it again. The rules have changed in the mortgage industry. The days of a real estate transaction being dependent upon the creativity of a loose lender are finished. Down payments are back again and FHA loans have had a resurgence in popularity. With all of this in mind getting yourself pre-approved or at the least pre-qualified before you ever start looking is more important than ever. One of the most common reasons for (14 comments)
We spring our clocks forward March 9th - I'm so glad my furry friend can't tell time. - 03/03/08 04:22 PM
It is almost time to spring forward. This Sunday March 9th is the date for us to spring our clocks forward 1 hour. The main purpose of daylight saving is to make better use of our daylight hours. I know there has been some opposition about the change as it interrupts our sleep schedule and we have to change our clocks. Personally I LOVE IT!! I love being outside and the long evenings we get in the spring and the summer. I was thrilled when the date was moved to the second Sunday in March. This year I have an ulterior motive (21 comments)
The Texas "option fee" clause and your home inspections! - 03/03/08 09:05 AM
The Texas "option fee" clause and your home inspections! This post is about that period of time where you do your home inspections. I have lived in four states and each state has handled the home inspection process in a different manner. In Texas all residential contracts have an "option fee" clause. This clause allows buyers and sellers to negotiate a specified time during which the buyer can fully evaluate the house. For this right, they buyer pays the seller a nonrefundable "option fee". So let's say you have finished negotiations everything is signed and you are under contract. You are now going (18 comments)
What is a Texas Title Committment? - 03/01/08 11:14 PM
What is a Texas Title Committment?I have lived both in states that close homes at attorneys offices and in states that close homes at Title Companies. In Texas we close at Title companies and if you are getting a loan you will probably be required by your lender to have a title policy. If you are paying cash you can choose whether to get a policy or not. In my opinion you are taking a big risk that could come back to bite you later on by not acquiring a title policy but that will be your choice. I have heard nightmare stories about people (13 comments)
Silverado 19 Theatre with IMAX opens just to the south of Tomball TX! - 03/01/08 08:21 PM
Silverado 19 Theatre with IMAX opens just to the south of Tomball TX!For what seems like a long time we have been watching the Silverado 19 just to the south of Tomball off of SH 249 being built. I remember when I saw the ground being broke. At that point I had no idea what it was going to be and of course my curiosity was getting the better of me as it looked very big. Then I see a sign go up that it was for a movie theatre with an IMAX. My first response was "you have got to be kidding". This (26 comments)
