Yesterday I found myself in my car for a fairly long stretch of time waiting for a client who was running late. Typically when that happens I bring out the cell phone and start surfing. In this case I was out in the country and was only getting one bar on my phone so surfing was out. I then started digging through my car to see what I could find. I know we have all watched in horror at the Tsunami that has affected Japan. I had heard the other day about a dog being rescued off a pile of debris. Our son just sent me the story of the dog being reunited with his owner. He said it would bring tears to my eyes and he was not kidding. As Paul Harvey would say here's the rest of the story:

I recently went to a meeting of the Spring Klein Chamber of Commerce where Dr. Cain the superintendent of Klein ISD spoke to us. I was amazed to find out that there is a law on the books in the state of Texas that does not allow a school district to give a teacher any pay reductions & they also cannot be furloughed. Schools are going through a rough time right now and according to Dr. Cain if they can't ask the teachers to take a small decrease in pay then LOTS of teachers are going to be laid off.My husband … (24 comments)

Meet Santa Baby! Baby is our neighbor's dog and she was all decked out for our bible study Christmas party. She looks cute enough to pet but if you are not a member of my neighbor's family you might want to think twice. Baby thinks that she is a Doberman and is very protective of her family.

As we celebrate this Thanksgiving day I thought it would be a good time to share the Lord's bounty from around the world. When I say around the world I mean it literally. Our daughter is a flight attendant for a Charter company and mainly flies Internationally. As she travels the world she takes pictures and puts them on her Flickr site. These are an array of pictures from her site. The company she works for has one of the contract to move our troops so most of the places in the pictures are places where we have troops.

We recently took a vacation to Panama City Beach and I'm happy to tell you that that we saw NO tar balls. The beaches were pristine and beautiful. We had decided that we were going irregardless of whether the spill had affected the beaches as we knew summer tourism in the gulf coast was hit hard.
Beyond tourism the oil spill has hit our entire gulf coast area hard. I will be honest though I think the moratorium has hit almost as hard if not harder than the spill did. With the moratorium lifted it will be interesting to see if things will start getting back to normal. From what I hear … (22 comments)

Fellow Active Rainer Liz Carter had a double lung and kidney transplant a week ago Thursday. At the time I wrote a post asking for prayers; this post is an update to what has transpired. If you missed my first post here it is so you can get up to speed.

We have a fellow rainer who needs our Prayers. Liz Carter with Liz Carter and Team Realty is in surgery as I post this getting a double lung and liver transplant. This extensive surgery will be 12 hours longs. She has been on a list to get this transplant since I met her.

I saw this Tomball TX Yard Angel the other day and loved the way she is holding the Dove in her hands. After doing my bible study this morning she came to mind so I drove by and took her picture. I don't know that I have ever studied about Doves and their significance in burnt offerings but that was where the bible took me this morning.

Flag Day is celebrated on June 14th. This was the day in 1777 that the Continental Congress in Philadelphia adopted the Star and Stripes as America's offical national flag with the simple instruction:
Resolved, that the Flag of the Thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white, that the Union be thirteen stars, white on a blue field, representing a new constellation.

One of the things that I love about living in Texas is the diversity that Texas has to offer. We have something for almost everyone. We have the city and the country. We have flat lands, hill country, semi-tropical areas, the gulf. You name it and Texas has it. Well I guess the exception would be snow covered mountains but we do have the hill country. I expect we are also one of the only states that has a pig that herds cows. Meet Squeaky the herding pig.
