At our last Montgomery County REALTOR® brunch the speaker was Jim Gaines who is a research economist with Texas A&M Real Estate Research Center.  He spent some time looking at last years housing market and then brought his crystal ball out and looked at what is in store for us this year. 
Here's what he had to say about housing in Texas in 2009:
Texas lagged in the recession; in 2008 we took a pass.  In January 2009 we joined in.  Typically Texas lags going in and lags going out.  We didn't fall as far and have as many problems. Tax Credit did help - 10 … (24 comments)

The Woodlands Ace Hardware is located at the corner of Kuykendahl and Woodlands Parkway.  They have quickly become my favorite hardware store.   This is the second time that I have written a post about The Woodlands Ace Hardware.  You will find the first one at Ace Hardware in The Woodlands TX!!

Ace hardware opened in The Woodlands this last fall and I can't tell you how excited we were for them to open.  You are probably wondering why anyone would get excited about a hardware store opening. 
We have lived in the most northern area of Harris County for over 12 years now and for the most part love it. One of the only drawbacks has been not having conveniences.  I have always said that we are 20 minutes from everything but not close to anything.  A trip to the hardware story could easily take an hour or longer round trip.  You … (24 comments)

One of the things that I LOVE about living in Spring/The Woodlands is our beautiful foliage.  With Creekside Park opening in Harris County we are now blessed to have a nature preserve 5 minutes from our house.  George Mitchell nature preserve has an access from Rob Fleming Park in Creekside Park.  It is my understanding there is another entrance from Flint Ridge but I am not familiar with it. Meanwhile on the other side of the lake, I have an itch!
Okay I was at this little subdivision lake in The Woodlands at Cochran's Crossing to take pictures for one of my listings and then all these birds distracted me.  The Woodlands has wonderful trails and community lakes and this is just one example.

Gooses Acres Bistro & Irish Pub in The Woodlands TXI love eating by the water and until the last few years if I wanted to do that I pretty much had to go to Lake Conroe.  The Woodlands has solved that dilemma for me.  Goose's Acres opened about this time last year and has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat.  It is located just south of the mall in the area that is being developed along The Woodlands Waterway.  It is a fun place to eat and won't break your pocket book.  They are open for lunch and … (16 comments)

Santa Host pets night at the Woodlands MallGet your pets picture taken with Santa at the Woodlands Mall!! This even takes place on Monday evenings; November 26th, December 3rd and 10th from 6:00 to 9:00. 
Pets night will be in Santa's studio at the Woodlands Mall.  Pet owners should use the south entrance between Urban Outfitters and Dillards.  Santa will be holding pet court on the lower level just in front of JC Pennies.  They are requesting cats and dogs only; sorry no exotic pets.  All pets must be on a lease or in a carrier.

Trick or Treat at Market Street in The Woodlands
 
Market Street in the Woodlands is offering a safe alternative for Halloween.  The Market Street tenants will be passing out candy for Trick or Treater's between 6:00 to 8:00 Halloween night.  
Those tenants that are participating will have pumpkins in their windows.
 As your child arrives they will receive a bag for their candy; so you don't even have to scrounge up a bag.  Everyone is welcome but it is geared for children 10 years and under.

Market Street - The WoodlandsIf you are looking for something fun to do, Market Street in the Woodlands is the place to go. The shopping and restaurants are incredible!  Market Street has 8 new stores opening up this fall.  If you have not visited in a while it will be a whole new shopping experience.
