tomball tx: Why everyone in the Spring/Tomball/Magnolia area should have flood insurance!! - 07/16/12 12:41 PM
After last year's drought I hate to complain about rain but ENOUGH ALREADY!  Two days in a row this last week I drove my car through deep water.  I don't know when I have been that scared.  The Lord was good to me and I made it through but it was quite scary.  I drive a Nissan Ultima which is fairly close to the ground and to be quite honest I'm not sure how I was not swept off the road.
It has now been days later but the flood water is still hanging around.  The picture to the right is … (4 comments)

tomball tx: The economic outlook of Tomball for 2011! - 03/20/11 10:28 PM
Betty Reinbeck past Executive Director of the Tomball Economic Development was our speaker for this month’s meeting of Tomball Business & Professional Women.  Notice I said “Past director” as we were her last presentation before she retired.  She filled us in on the economic outlook of Tomball for 2011.
Tomball economic development corporation is a type B sales tax organization; which means it is funded by sales tax revenue and that is its only funding.  Betty told us for the last 6 months the sales tax revenue has been up which means the economy of Tomball is doing quite well.  This … (7 comments)

tomball tx: Found Cow in Tomball TX!! - 02/27/11 08:04 PM
I was driving in to Tomball today and passed a sign that said "Found Cow". Considering there's a whole pasture of cows next door I'm not sure how you tell one from another but someone has lost a cow.
I absolutely love Tomball and where else would you find someone advertising that they had found a cow. The nickname for Tomball is the hometown with a heart and it truly is. The people are incredibly friendly and quite honest as you can tell from the found Cow sign.
If you have lost a  cow in Tomball you can  locate your cow … (28 comments)

tomball tx: Crape Myrtle murder in Spring-Tomball-Magnolia TX!! - 02/04/11 11:05 AM
Crape Myrtle murder has started early in Spring-Tomball-Magnolia TX this year. I have been driving around watching the landscapers out pruning for the last few weeks. The sad thing is that there’s absolutely no reason to scalp murder a tree the way they do. I expect many of you have heard the story of Grandma’s roast. It seems Grandma cut the end of the roast off, so Mom cut the end of her roast off and so on. Finally someone got around to asking Grandma why she cut the roast off and her answer was so it could fit in the … (23 comments)

tomball tx: Cold Facts for Plant survival in Spring-Magnolia-Tomball TX!! - 02/01/11 10:43 AM
Last year the Houston Chronicle had a great article about plant survival in freezing temperatures. Since it is almost February I was thinking I was going to get away without having to post about this but it is not to be; we are looking to have several days of frigid temperatures starting today (lows in the low to mid 20's).  Here in Houston we rarely have frigid temperatures and for sure not several days in a row.  I love all the tropical plants that I'm able to grow in Spring and by using what they said I saved my plants last … (11 comments)

tomball tx: Tomball TX Yard Angel!! - 06/20/10 03:52 PM
I saw this Tomball TX Yard Angel the other day and loved the way she is holding the Dove in her hands.  After doing my bible study this morning she came to mind so I drove by and took her picture.  I don't know that I have ever studied about Doves and their significance in burnt offerings but that was where the bible took me this morning.
I found out that Turtledoves and pigeons are symbols of mourning innocence and are associated with poverty in the Old Testament. The study went back and forth from Old and New Testament and spoke of … (12 comments)

tomball tx: Preserving Trees in Tomball TX!! - 06/18/10 03:52 PM

One of the many things that I love about Tomball TX are the trees. It has amazed me at the imaginative ways the trees have been preserved.
For instance if you notice the picture with the two large trees and the picnic tables.  This is in the Wal-mart parking lot.  This park is not built to the side of the parking lot it is in the middle of the parking lot.  There is parking on either side and you can drive in front also.
If you also notice the tree with the building built around it.  That is the local Wood … (18 comments)

tomball tx: Texas Real Estate - Looking back to 2009 and forward to 2010! - 03/08/10 04:50 PM
At our last Montgomery County REALTOR® brunch the speaker was Jim Gaines who is a research economist with Texas A&M Real Estate Research Center.  He spent some time looking at last years housing market and then brought his crystal ball out and looked at what is in store for us this year.
Here's what he had to say about housing in Texas in 2009:
Texas lagged in the recession; in 2008 we took a pass.  In January 2009 we joined in.  Typically Texas lags going in and lags going out.  We didn't fall as far and have as many problems. Tax Credit did help - 10 … (24 comments)

tomball tx: New RESPA Rules - How they affect Spring-Tomball TX buyers and sellers!! - 02/04/10 09:34 PM
This morning I went to a training that Charter Title offered on the new RESPA rules and how they are going to affect our Spring-Tomball buyers and sellers.  Chuck Jacobus SVP of Charter Title and a real estate attorney with law offices in Bellaire was the guest speaker.
RESPA came in to affect in 1973 and to begin with Chuck said the restrictions were difficult to comply with. According to Chuck it is déjà vu 1973. We are going through the adaptation phase of the new RESPA rules and most don't understand them (which includes title companies, lenders etc.).
LONG story short both the seller and … (17 comments)

tomball tx: Friday Fotos - Tomball Cougar Art Sculptor! - 08/21/09 12:52 PM

The above oak tree was a causality of Hurricane Ike.  It is on Baker Street in Tomball which I travel often.  I watched the artist sculpting the tree from my car as I traveled back and forth on Baker Street.  I figured the cougars had something to do with the cougar being the mascot of Tomball High School.
I found a youtube video that our local Tomball Potpourri News made that explains it all. The artist who carved the tree is Master Wood Carver Nathan Smith, a local Tomball artist.  He carved two cougars in a rocky cliff setting out of this … (37 comments)
