My oldest will be in college in a few years. Needless to say, I’ve become somewhat fixated on the topic of college tuition. I figure I’m not alone. From a real estate stand point, it can play a significant role in deciding where to plant your flag. Here’s how the regional state colleges & universities stack up:
District high school graduates are entitled to a few perks. The DC Tuition Assistance Grant Program (DC TAG) provides up to $10,000 a year for 5 years, and funds the financial difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at participating public colleges throughout the US. Additionally, it will provide up to $2,500 per year toward DC-area private colleges or historically black colleges and universities in the US.
College doesn’t come cheaply. Forbes places Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, NY at the top of the list for most expensive colleges (now there’s some fun reading). Tuition is $58,334 per year, or close to $240,000 for 4 full years of school.
Oh, boy.
