google: Matt Cutts of Google Penalizing Real Estate Websites - Part 3 - 07/07/07 12:10 PM
I wrote a blog post recently about being penalized by Google for having state pages with excessive reciprocal links with other Realtors. You can read more about it here: part 1 & part 2. The good news is that I came out of the penalty box today and looks as though I came back where I left off. I rank # 1 in Google for "Sarasota real estate" and bunch of other phrases. The 60 day mark is July 9th as I was penalized May 9th. Be careful with the useless reciprocal linking with each other. Matt Cutts of Google is very clear

google: Do you only post in Active Rain for the links? - 06/29/07 10:58 AM
I would be interested to hear how many of you are posting in Active Rain only to get the links to your website. Be honest, are you only posting for the links? I think the majority of the posts are done so for search engine purposes. With Google starting to take action against real estate websites who do excessive reciprocal linking I wonder if they will eventually devalue the links that come from social networks as well. Since the links can come with some valuable content I doubt Google would devalue them completely. Sarasota FL real estate

Google is the most widely used search engine. Rightfully so since they provide the best search results. A well ranking website in Google can provide a tremendous amount of traffic. When a website links to another website Google views that link as a vote. The more votes or links a website has the more popular and important the website is in Google's eyes.
